Gran Turismo Videos

The Forza Motorsport series is here to stay. The newest and third iteration, Forza 3, has sold more than 1 million copies in the first month. The Storefront feature in Forza 3 as also generated $18.7 billion and Xbox Live users have racked up 6.6 million hours played. Turn 10, the developer of the series, claims that over 590 million miles have been driven by players in the game. Storefront users have also made 4 million bids on the 1.5 million total items put up on the storefront. Polyphony Digital is probably scrambling to make Gran Turismo 5 a game to remember, because they have some fierce competition across the aisle. Atleast we would believe so, considering that its been in development for roughly 4-5 years. Keep in mind that the full scope of the Forza series has been in existence since the last complete Gran Turismo release. I doubt that Polyphony Digital has forgotten to make a solid racing game but is also entering a lot of unfamiliar territory (licensed NASCAR racing, damage modeling, etc) to be competitive with Forza. I am confident Gran Turismo 5 will be an excellent game, regardless of whether or not it revolutionizes the racing genre. The tension between these two series is funny, because although die hard fans on each side will swear by their respective game, the money of a die hard fan is the same as the money of the average guy walking into any store to pick up either. And if he is a little well-informed, he probably knows he ll get a great game with both. It will probably takes hours of mind-numbing research to determine which is better, and such a determination will probably be accomplished long after the hype train has gone. I know I will get both, being an owner of each Gran Turismo and well I actually own Forza 3 already. Anyways, that is all I have to say. Gran Turismo 5 and its creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, have become somewhat synonymous with perfectionism and obsessiveness in the games industry. It is only justified though, whenever we gamers get to see the fruits of his neurosis. We have been waiting quite a while for Gran Turismo 5 (more so than other in the series), and Europe will get to see a demo of the game on December 17th. I am not talking about Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, either (the demo we all got to pay for). The demo on Playstation Network will include a Nissan 370Z and an unannounced custom circuit. You might remember that a demo for the game was bundled with the PS3 s launch 2007. What makes this upcoming demo different is that it is the GT Academy Time Trial 2010- Gran Turismo 4 also had one of these. The GT Academy 2010 Time Trial will record times and the top 20 qualifiers from each country will be invited to a national final. The winners of this will go to the GT Academy 2010.
