Orange Lounge Radio 288 - 7/20/08
from Orange Lounge Radio - Video Game Radio July 21, 2008
Welcome to the new format for Orange Lounge Radio where Parts A & B of our live show are now combined! This also means you get new descriptions! Anyhow in tonights episode, it is expo mania! Our spirits are high having just booked our trip to PAX for August. After a review of the California Extreme show that DarkSakura attended, we wrap up the show we DID NOT attend this year: E3. We recap the press conferences from the big 3 companies. Will the announcement of Final Fantasy XIII on XBOX 360 mean that Rob will never buy a Playstation 3? The crew has some very different opinions on the announcement of Wii Music. The list of announcements goes on and on and on until we get to our Classic game of the week. After the break, we touch on some other news such as this Dead Rising Wii game we had never ever heard of before E3. We have a cry over E3 no longer being for the core gamers (According to Miyamoto, anyway). Then we have a discussion on the return of Red Pyramid (aka Pyramid Head) to the Silent Hill series, which causes us to declare a new OLR Holiday: Pyramid Head Rape Appreciation Day! (Subject to change due to political correctness). All this and your phone calls, the mailbag, live chatroom comments and more on Orange Lounge Radio: The place where every gamer has a voice.

from YouTube :: Tag // music February 15, 2008
Sorry about how looooooooooong it took to fullfill your request, Marcilona. But I deleted CamStudio, but got it back because I couldn't find any other screen-capture devices. Anyway... Team C Warriors: Perfect Cell (Me) Haruhi Suzumiya VS. Team Marc's Vigilante (Marcilona): Lei-Lei (P.o.t.S.) Bulleta (Beximus, w. AI Patch) Maybe it's not Lei-Lei that gives me trouble, but Bulleta's AI patch is near the edge of "impossible". Luckily, I won this onein two rounds. ======================================= Stage: Power Generation Room Music: Stage 7-2 (One of the Gradius games) Author: CBASuper Keywords: CBA Super MUGEN Team Battle Perfect Cell Marc's Vigilante Haruhi Suzumiya Lei-Lei Bulleta Gradius Added: February 15, 2008

The PSP Show #67 - Gradius Collections (MP3 6.7 mb 9 minutes 42 seconds) DOWNLOAD the podcast by right clicking on this link or press play and listen in your browser. Carrying on with the classic titles from last year (and beyond, by the looks of it) is another Arcade Collection, this time focussed on a specific genre (the horizontal shooter) and a specific brand - Gradius. How does this make the transition from arcade cabinet to portable powerhouse? I ll give you a hint, slightly better than Atari Classics but only slightly. Listen to the show (or subscribe in iTunes), and feel free to leave your comments. Tags: PSP, podcast, Retro, Gradius, Konami.

Gradius - Long Play - CM - Mame
from YouTube :: Videos by moffstarr July 23, 2007
A Side order by AdigunPolack the shmup Gradius. Gradius (c) 05/1985 Konami. A superb and demanding shoot'em up that shares - along with Irem's "R-Type" - the destinction of being a true innovator of its genre and, again like R-Type, completely revolutionized the humble shoot-em-up. Gradius' eye-catching graphics guaranteed gamer interest but it was the game's genius 'weapon upgrade' system that really made the difference. Never before could players actually CHOSE how to upgrade their ship. Destroying waves of enemies would often see the player reward with an 'orb' that could be picked up. The player could collect up to six orbs and could effectively 'buy' an upgrade from the six displayed at the bottom of the play area (speed-up, bombs, double, laser, multiple - which are orbs that follow the player's movements and add greater firepower - and a mystery sixth upgrade that is marked with an '?'). Game difficulty increases depending on how many power-ups the player has, so it is sometimes advantageous to NOT power-up your ship too much. - TECHNICAL - Game ID : GX400 Main CPU : 68000 (@ 9.216 Mhz), Z80 (@ 3.579545 Mhz) Sound Chips : (2x) AY8910 (@ 1.789772 Mhz), K005289 (@ 1.789772 Mhz), VLM5030 (@ 3.579545 Mhz) Screen orientation : Horizontal Video resolution : 256 x 224 pixels Screen refresh : 60.61 Hz Palette colors : 2048 Players : 2 Control : 8-way joystick Buttons : 3 - TRIVIA - This game is known in Europe as "Nemesis". First shoot-em-up with serious power-ups. Alfa Records released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Konami Game Music Vol.1 - 28XA-85) on 27/06/1986. Apollon Music released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Original Sound of Gradius - KHY1016) on 05/05/1987. Interesting note : Several Konami arcade games ("Gradius", "Parodius Da! - Shinwa kara Owarai e", "Salamander", etc...) have the default high score set at 57300. '573' refers to Go-Na-Mi kana letters, a play of word for 'Konami'. Bandai released a boardgame (in Japan only) based on this videogame (same name) in 1986 : The board is split into 8 sections, each with its own rules. The things that remain the same are that each uses a square-grid for movement, and you can power up your ship by getting the capsules. The first level of Gradius is available as a mini-game in the Nintendo Super NES game "Legend of the Mystical Ninja". In the Nintendo NES hockey game Blades of Steel, one of the intermission screens is a playable sequence which recreates the fight against the first Gradius boss. The popular trading card game 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' has drawn inspiration for some of its cards from the game, which are Gradius, Cyclon Laser, Gradius' Option, Victory Viper XX03, and Power Capsule. Other cards include enemies and boss characters such as Solar Flare Dragon, The Statue of Easter Island, Moai Interceptor Cannons, B.E.S. Covered Core, Big Core, B.E.S. Tetran, and B.E.S. Crystal Core, as well as the spell card Boss Rush. Konami's music simulation game "Pop'n Music" features the song 'Gradius Full-Speed' which is a mix of the music in the first level of Gradius. This song is also featured in "beatmania IIDX". - SERIES - 1. Gradius (1985) 2. Salamander (1986) 3. Gradius 2 (1987, MSX) 4. Gradius II - Gofer no Yabou (1988) 5. The Video Games Show #87 - 01/26/06
from The Video Games Show - 64 kbps January 27, 2006
Time for another show! Hello everybody out there! We've got another packed show for you all to listen to. We've also got a new member of The Video Games Show team to introduce, Intern Ariel. With the debut of our two hour shows on the horizon and our goal of taking over the world gaining momentum, she'll be helping us out with our marketing and promotions (a.k.a. pimping the show). After we introduce Ariel, we'll jump right into your weekly dose of the news. There's a lot of news from this past week which includes stories about Majesco going down the tubes, the movie based on Silent Hill gets trailered and Gizmondo Europe starts to call it quits. You'll also hear about Full Auto getting dated as well as demoed, Sony makes SOCOM's developer one of its own and West Virginia brings DDR to school. Last but not least in the news, we'll tell you about Gradius Collection coming to the PSP, a Texas Governor candidate proposes some tax changes and Square Enix dates a couple of games. After the news, Rich will bring us our Review of the Week. This time around, he takes a look at the popular new service Gametap. He'll tell us about what they offer and give us his take on what kind of gameplay you can expect. This leads us to our Question of the Week. What classic game would you like to see on Gametap?. As we like to do, we'll close out the show by reading and answering some of your emails. Enjoy the show!

The Video Games Show #71 - 09/21/05
from The Video Games Show - 64 kbps September 24, 2005
Another week, another show. Hello all you gamers! It's been a wild week for those of us on The Video Games Show staff. First, we survived a wild bachelor party. Second, both Rich and Nickel had their work schedules changed, so we had to decide on a new day to do the show. We finally made our decision, and this weeks show is the result. As we like to do on our show, Hoss and Rich will get you caught up on the news from the past week. This weeks headlines gives us word that billiards are coming to the PSP, Michigan gains status among states with gaming laws and the Game Boy Micro makes huge waves in Japan. The guys will also tell you about new compilations from Tecmo and Sega, Namco brings fighting to the streets and one of the important questions about the Xbox 360 is finally answered. Among other things in the news is the discovery of Katamari Damacy coming to the PSP, Burnout makes it to retail in two flavors and Nintendo unveils the Revolution controller. You'll also hear about the release of a revised San Andreas, sequels of Gradius and Alone In The Dark are PS3 bound and a whole bunch of games get shelved. With the news now out of the way, it's time for this weeks review. The game of choice this week is NASCAR 06: Total Team Control. Since Hoss and Rich are well versed in the video game world but aren't racing fans, we brought in fellow video gamer and racing nut Brandon Mudd (you can hear his insightful knowledge on 590 The Fan's SpeedZone & Pit Stops and Left Turns) to help us out. After we race through our review, the guys turn their attention towards answering a few of our listener emails. Enjoy!
