ATI Radeon 5970 is the Foot-long GPU Champ: HotHardware

We sit down with our buddies from HotHardware, like we do every week, to talk graphic cards this time around. First on the list? ATI's gigantic Radeon 5970, which other than topping performance charts, also tips the price scales more than most cards. On the cheap end of the spectrum, we break down a new card from Zotac which is a low-power unit capable of fitting in well to a home theater without breaking the bank. Also, Adobe has added hardware acceleration support in its latest build of Flash, which is perfect for lower-end computers to play back hi-def Flash content. And, MSI has come out with a desktop that fits that mold really well, which has a touchscreen, Nvidia ION processor, and comes in at about $750. Check the show for the full details. IE 9: Surfing on the GPU with D2D

The IE team is busy working on the next version of the world's most popular browser. IE 8 is the most widely used browser on Windows. IE 9 is currently in the oven and the IE team is ready to talk about what they're working on. Here, IE GM Dean Hachamovitch leads us through the halls of IE (literarally) and takes us to meet graphics developer Christian Fortini and test lead Anjali Parikh. They're taking IE to a new level with all graphic rendering taking place on the GPU via the DirectX technology D2D. So, IE 9 will take advantage of the power of the GPU for all page rendering and, further, enable web developers to exploit this power in ways they already understand (CSS, DHTML, JavaScript). The increase in performance and smooth rendering is stunning as you will see in the demos that are part of this conversation. This is incredible news for web developers and web surfers. IE 9, surfing the GPU! Oh yeah. Enjoy.

http://www.tweaktown.com Last week a fellow called David Cummings, Director of Marketing for Desktop GPU from AMD, flew into Taipei and gave local press here in Taiwan a solid presentation on the new ATI Radeon 5970 dual GPU video that is being released today around the world. We headed on over to the AMD offices in Taipei and recorded the presentation for everyone to watch. It summarizes the new video card in AMD speak, but David does go into quite a bit of details, especially the UNLOCKED feature of the card that allows for some pretty insane overclocking.
