America doesn’t Torture ???
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) May 24, 2008
Warning: This Video contains images (including Nudity) that are not suitable for Children.Viewing is recommended for Mature Audiences only !After watching and listening to an Interview that President George W. Bush recently participated in, and hearing him utter the words America doesn t torture ! I sat there shaking my head, and wondering what President Bush determines Torture to be ?Whilst this particular Video focuses on the much publicised Torture that was conducted at Abu Ghraib, in Iraq there are other forms of Torture that are less publicised. For example, the Torture of keeping innocent civilians locked-up away from their families for years on end, without a Trial the Torture of Children seeing their families blown-up in front of their eyes the Torture of families being inside homes that are bombed by the US Military the Torture of a child watching her father being dragged-away at gunpoint the Torture of knowing that the men who were responsible for killing your wife and kids are not charged with an Offence the Torture of being forced to leave your home, in order to ensure the Safety of your Family the Torture of being kicked out of your home, by the Invaders of your Country. By God, Mr Bush if you believe America doesn t torture Go and live in Iraq !!!

Blood For Oil
from YouTube :: Tag // motion-graphics April 24, 2008
I was 13 when the US invaded Iraq. All I've known in my adult life is my country being despised around the world for a war that has killed over 4,000 Americans and 90,000 Iraqis. A war that has put us in such debt that I will be paying for it for the rest of my life. A war that was based on lies and deception. But now I can vote. Now I can make a difference. I urge all of my generation to make a change that we can believe in. ----------- Blood For Oil ----------- Song Produced by: Greg Penny Music: Pablo Esquer & Elijah Behar Lyrics: Elijah Behar Performed by Hindu Kush Guitar & Vocals: Elijah Behar Guitar & Violin Pablo Esquer Bass: Nathaniel Hartnett Drums: Logan Hugueny Clark Recorded at Zircon Skye Studios Video Editor: Sara Sackner & David Hartwell Motion Graphics: David Hartwell Executive Producer: Andrew Behar Special Thanks: Denzyl Feigelson Albert Behar (keyboards) Author: hindukushmusic Keywords: Hindu Kush Rock Iraq war Abu Ghraib Plasmatic-Concepts blood oil torture Bush Rumsfeld Cheney terrorism 9/11 Added: April 23, 2008

Errol Morris (BSS #205)
from The Bat Segundo Show April 23, 2008
Errol Morris is most recently the director of Standard Operating Procedure, which opens on April 25, 2008. (There is also an accompanying book written by Philip Gourevitch.) Guest: Errol Morris Subjects Discussed: [List forthcoming] EXCERPT FROM SHOW: Correspondent: I actually want to bring up your most recent article for the New York Times, in which you delineated the difference between a single image and a moving image, in the sense that a moving image involves trying to create a map of reality. Because you re not paying consistent attention to the actual moving image. But here you are with a film that has reenactments as well as interviews. And so I m wondering: to what degree do you guide the viewer s sense of mapping reality? Or is this a kind of cinematic device that is similar to, say, for example, the writings of Lautréamont in which he has this narrator who guides the reader and this is your effort to help out the viewer through the reenactments and through the juxtaposition and through the editing? Morris: I think it s both. I ve never been compared to Lautréamont before. Here s what I would say. There s a movie. A movie is a movie. But you can also ask what is behind the movie. Was my intention to investigate the story? Was it my intention to find out new things? It s self-serving of me to say so, but I would say yes! I mean, what s the idea here? The idea is there is this set of photographs. They ve been shown all around the world. Hundreds of millions of people have seen these photographs. I don t think that s an exaggeration. But do we really know what we re looking at? Has anyone talked to the people who took the photographs? What actually was going on in the photographs? I ll give you an example. One picture that Susan Sontag remarks on is the picture of Sabrina Harman with her thumbs up. Smiling. The body of an Iraqi prisoner. Al-Jamadi. A lynching? I would say yes. But who is responsible? You look at the picture and you think, Ugh! It s the woman in the picture. The smile! The thumbs up! She s the culprit. She s implicated. We come to find out. Wrong! Wrong! So this is an ongoing problem that I have with how photographs are interpreted in general.

Condi Must Go!
from Most Discussed April 16, 2008
Petition: http://CondiMustGo.com/ How can we express the terrible shock we have felt from the proven fact that our government is using torture? How can we express what so many of us are thinking—that it is absolutely appalling to know that our representatives are implementing barbaric instruments of torture as policy? How do we express our moral outrage? Perhaps more importantly, how do we begin to take steps towards ending this heinous crime? Our allies at True Majority and Democracy for America have launched a campaign to START calling out our leaders by focusing on Condoleezza Rice. No, she is not the President. But we want to call attention to the fact that the Secretary of State called for torture when she was National Security Adviser. Rice led White House meetings on torture that were so detailed, according to ABC News, the interrogation sessions were almost choreographed. This is our campaign to get Condi Rice fired. Accountability must start with her, especially now that she's being mentioned as a potential Vice Presidential candidate. We want to push all the Presidential candidates on this issue. They need to make a public stance: Can Condi! Join us in taking action. Join us in creating a firestorm while the traditional media is missing in action. Join us in spreading the word to mobilize our country. We cannot tolerate officials with a blatant disregard for human rights. Yours, Robert Greenwald and the Brave New Team
