Today we chat again with George Hrab. I saw some very cool, very creative videos that George has produced on pretty much a Zero budget. Brain Crack Don t let Brain Crack stop you from doing projects. What is Brain Crack? You have an idea in your head. You say, As soon as I get ___ or do ___ or ___ then I can ___. The bottom line is your persuit of perfection stops you from doing great work. It may not be perfect, but it may be very good.  A great song will shine through so-so production. However, a horrible song won t move you no matter how well its recorded. Here is the video that George did where he record the song 9 times, and then played the clips on his computer and recorded his screen. Here is a link to the remixed version of the video The video for Out of my mind has George naked. George Explains how he slowed down his song s audio, and then sped up the video to get the sound back to normal in his Far video. Find George at www.georgehrab.com and buy his music at CDBaby.

Today we are thrilled to have another segment with George Hrab and this time George is talking about how he uses Twitter and Facebook. George is using Facebook as an area for Exclusive content and when it comes to twitter he has a great plan. Deliver great content that is occasionally mixed in with a plug for a gig etc.  In some of the books I read about twitter it should be no more than one plug for every five tweets. Music: George Hrab w/ Slau Sciurus Carolinensisby Available i iTunes and CDBaby.

Tales From the Road with George Hrab (repost)

from Musicians Cooler on August 05, 2009
Duration: 1738
Today we learn great lessons about gigging from George Hrab (this is actually taken from his Geologic Podcast from July 23rd). This show originates from www.musicianscooler.com George (www.georgehrab.com) talks about a gig he did (as a drummer/percussionist) with a harpist doing jazz. In this hilarious tale we learn: Always get directions to the gig, and verify them before the gig. If you re sitting in with people for the first time, a rehearsal may be in order. You want to specify your duties up front. You want to specify payment (how much, and in what format you will receive it). Show up on time to be prepared for the gig (not 5 minutes to show time). Giving away free t-shirts to the band does not count as payment. If you can t carry your instrument, bring someone with you who can. Music Barney s in the Vent from Interrobang (if you are a Frank Zappa fan, I HIGHLY recommend it). Artist: Vaughan Jones and Reiad Chibah, Piece from: "Duo Concertant in C minor Op 4 Mvt 2" by Allessandro Rolla "Adagio Ma Non Troppo" Album: "Spohr, Rolla, Kalliwoda - Works For Violin And Viola", 2008 http://cdbaby.com/cd/joneschibah Vaughan Jones wrote: "Alessandro Rolla was born in Pavia on April 6th, 1757 – he soon revealed himself as an accomplished violinist and viola player and had a successful orchestral career as the principle Violist and then leader of the orchestra in Parma. In 1803, he was appointed conductor of the La Scala orchestra in Milan where he premiered works by Rossini and many other composers. Rolla wrote well over 70 works for the ‘Violin / Viola Duo’ combination – believing that both instruments should be treated as equals and that if the musical ideas in a composition were strong enough, a work could be reduced to just two instruments without any loss of impact. The piece on this disc (his Duo in C minor) – is quite an early work and allows both instruments bursts of intricate passagework. "We recorded this disc last year having discovered each piece whilst preparing for recitals – as far as we can ascertain, this is the first time this piece by Rolla has been recorded and we’re currently exploring and performing more of his duos. In 2009, we plan to record another disc for string quartet which will feature two quartets by violinist / composer Louis Spohr, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of his death." Artist: House of Cosy Cushions Song: "Good Old Love" Violin: Cora Venus Lunny (www.myspace.com/coravenuslunny) Written by: Richard Bolhuis www.houseofcosycushions.com www.myspace.com/houseofcosycushions Their new album "animal dream" should be available on iTunes soon.
