Using only tape and garbage bags, Harris creates giant inflatable animals that become animated when fastened to a sidewalk grate. Seattle Public Utilities estimates that on average every person in the city uses 485 plastic bags a year, and another 110 paper bags a year. The city proposes charging you 20 cents for disposable bags paper or plastic in most Seattle stores. The plan would start January 1. It would also ban those Styrofoam containers restaurants use for take out food. Tomorrow night, the city council hears public comments on a plan. We want to hear what you have to say today. We'll find out how the city plans to enforce the plan, and why Styrofoam is being banned when other disposable products that are just as bad for the environment are not. Imagine shelling out thousands of dollars to move into an apartment complex that advertises itself as being luxurious only to find it is furthest from it. Imagine on the first night you moved in that the pipes in the wall that seperates your bedroom from the bathroom banged day and night, banged so loud that you could never get a decent night's sleep. Imagine begging and pleading with the management of this so called luxury complex to fix it and them talking down to you, mocking you, ignoring you and doing absolutely nothing to fix the problem. Imagine day and night for five months hearing the loudest banging sound imaginable and not being able to do a thing about it. Well we don't have to imagine all that because it has happened to us. We shelled out thousands of hard earned dollars to live at Tysen's Park Apartments in Staten Island, New York and we have to live with the unbearable sounds of loud banging pipes every single night. My roommate and I have lost countless hours of sleep, have called out sick from our jobs and are stressed out beyond belief because the problems with what amounts to be an unihabitable apartment that we were lied to about by Tysen's Management. this video will give you a very small idea of what we are going through. Trash on the ground annoys me. It always has. It doesn't take much to hold on to that trash for a little bit longer so one can put it in the proper receptacle. At least in my mind, anyway. So yeah, I went on my walk, and there was all this trash in all these odd places. Places trash shouldn't be. So me being me, I started picking it up as I went along. By the time I completed my walk, I had not only found a small shopping bag tossed aside from some purchase at a Christian bookstore, but I completely filled it with soda bottles, foam cups, candy wrappers . . . even a rusty tin package from some Icebreaker Gum. The final injustice was the foot-long pixie stix wrapper I found lying within fifteen feet of a trash can. As I picked up each piece, I couldn't help but think about how it got on the ground in the first place: The Three Musketeers wrapper that was chucked aside when somebody enjoyed a chocolate moment. Or the bottle of hand sanitizer that no longer had any use and was tossed aside without thinking. And that started my creative juices. I thought, how about making a short video about trash? I mean, when you think about trash lying around on the ground and how it got there, trash suddenly becomes something more than just an environmental concern. It becomes interesting! Think about it . . .This is a storyboard/video, because I do not have access to my normal video editing computer. :p

I felt like ranting about a few things I hope you enjoy.

Last winter I filmed the municipal trash trucks starting at 5:45 morning, headed for the city. I then promised to get a summer shot in daylight. So here it is, 5:45 morning in daylight. I did not count the trucks, but you're welcome. There were still between 30 and 50 trucks left in the parking lot, I believe.
