I feel so many mentally unstable people are walking around because insurance companies are telling Psychiatrists that they will not cover a longer stay. A 302 is so hard to get on someone until there is concrete evidence that this person is a danger to themselves or to others. State hospitals have closed. Would stricter gun laws be the solution? Absolutely not. It would only affect a law abiding citizen from obtaining a gun. A criminal is just going to buy a gun illegally in the city. Even with a 302, it is a short in-patient stay that a patient cannot be properly diagnosed and medicated. So, people are walking around like a time bomb. No one knows when they will explode and nothing can be done. Maybe, metal detectors installed everywhere.
