About The iPod Project:

Today most kids have iPods, but the elderly in facilities, often have no access to the music they love. While this may seem a trivial concern, when you have witnessed firsthand the joy this inexpensive program brings to patients, especially those with Alzheimer's and Dementia, you understand our mission. Life in a long term care facility can be trying. Studies have shown that in an average nursing home 96% of patient time is spent idle. Consider that there are 1600 nursing homes in the U.S. with a population of 1.2 million people and 5.6 million people with Alzheimer's Disease, and you begin to understand the scope of the challenge. At Music and Memory it is our goal to make available the healing power of Personalized Music to every facility-bound patient, especially those unable to acquire it for themselves.
