This is a digital art show made in 2002, some months after the terrible events of 11/11. It started as a family show, but 11/11 gave me the idea to express, through it, the need for more love and compassion in our life, in order to change a little to the better, this world ... No cameras were used, but only my PC and 30 old family photos. This is an experimental video on a new way of telling stories and expressing feelings and ideas through our movies. This is a short tribute to the amateur Filmmakers of the last 40 years, by MARIOS LEFTERIOTIS http://marios-videos.blogspot.com/, http://3dmarios.blogspot.com/ You may watch 9 short films and videos, amongst them REQUIEM. You will see S8 and 16mm films, videos and digitally made movies, and perhaps you will recall your creative days of film-making and these years of the sixties and seventies, when thousands of aspiring new amateur filmmakers, worldwide, with a small 8mm camera in hands, were shooting their "masterpieces", in a 3 minutes 8mm reel, which they had to wait for 2 weeks to see it processed and ready for projection. And yet, from some of those short movies, the so called modern artistic cinema, got many fresh ideas about shooting and editing films ! The movies you are going to watch, present the CINE's activities of M.L. who is Construction Engineer, Photographer and Filmmaker. He started as an amateur moviemaker and in a few years his films were shown on TV and at many festivals, internationally. The most interesting of his movies is REQUIEM (1970) for its avant-garde style, which maintains its originality even today, nearly 40 years after it was made ! An experimental video and audio piece conceived and shot by the american artist Maile Colbert at NOGS in Nodar, Portugal. A poetic recollection of personal and others memories that made use of a methaforical comparison between the memory formation and the weaving of wool, linking the intimate with Nodar's specific traditions and crafts (shepherding, weaving, fabric and cloths making).
