I bet I could eat an entire Cheesecake Factory Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake in one sitting. I lost. But actually I won, because I got an entire cheesecake to myself. I hope to someday try this again. http://eve-park.com

Geek Girl TV #46: Sexy Phlegm

Geek Girl TV #46: Sexy Phlegm

from caucasusnews on October 05, 2007
Duration: 406
This episode, of contracted the PME plague from PME and I'm a little out of it. The pace of the show is odd this week, and my voice is operating in a lower octave. It reminds me of Friends, season 4 episode 5, "The One With Joey's New Girlfriend" where Pheobe gets a cold, and everyone in the coffee shop can't get enough of her new singing voice. When she gets over her cold, she does anything she can to catch another, and regain her 'sexy phlegm'. This is episode 46. Potato chromosome controversy. Lastly, I show some home video of the closing of my local drive-in theater, and the send off by the local drag queen comedy troop 'the Demented Divas'. My mood is rather subdued, so I think the closing drive-in is a little of a buzz killer. But I'll feel better next week, and I'm going to show off a brand new piece of swag I got from think geek. Oh yeah, I'm addicted to twitter. Thanks to the loving harassment of my new good friend Jim of the Clip Show. Check him out at theclipshow.com and he will help you to discover new podcasts.

Geek Girl TV #10: Calendar Contest!

Geek Girl TV #10: Calendar Contest!

from BrahmaKumarisUK on February 07, 2007

In this episode, I mention the tragedy of James Kim of Cnet, but I prefer not to completely cover it because I was not personally close to him like many podcasters. And out of respect for him I would prefer to link you towards a more direct source if you don't know the story. http://news.com.com/2009-12-6141617.html?tag=cnetfd.ld1 In other news, we also experienced the loss of Lynne's Sci Fi news. But the good news is that Lynne left us to pursue a new job (good luck Lynne) and you can still find Lynne at the Lipsitck aliens podcast. http://lipstickaliens.libsyn.com I cover two other news stories, including the phenomena that by some is called Geek Porn. It refers to the popularity of internet videos of people unboxing tech toys. You can find a repository of unboxing videos at unboxing.com. Also check out youTube if you'd like to repeatedly fantasize about that precise exiting moment in which you extract your virgin Wii from the sealed and pristine packaging. The other story was about Bournemouth, England, which has been declared by a recent survey to be the nerdiest town in the UK. It also describes the geographical distribution nerdy (and philatelic) trends across Britain. Links to those stories, respectively: http://www.thedailyreel.com/news-opinion/news/geek-porn-watching-inside-the-box?gnewsid=1165504799.76 http://www.thisisdorset.net/display.var.1061351.0.barefaced_geek.php And most importantly, I continue to pimp the Screen Goddesses 2007 calendar, which remember is for a good cause. You can purchase a calendar for yourself or a loved one at ITgoddess.info or enter my little contest! I'm giving away a proof (which is as beautiful as the real deal, but has a few type-os.) All you need to do is e-mail me a digital image of what you'd be if you were a superhero. Use photoshop, paint, a box of crayons, take a picture of a clay sculpture or collage! Or even dress up for real and send me a picture. I welcome submissions of any artistic ability. Have it in by the end of the year, and if you're my favorite I will mail you my proof calendar. Please don't abuse copyrighted material, because I don't want to get in trouble for using it in my podcast. Send submissions to geekgirl(at)clevermedia(dot)com -- and also as always please feel free to send questions or comments to the same address, or if you were a superhero what your name and power would be!!!

Geek Girl #2: RL Questing

Geek Girl #2: RL Questing

from mmohub on February 06, 2007
Duration: 284
This week, Geek Girl eve-park gives you a tour of your lavish production studio, and takes a road trip, in which she completes 3 quests from her RL quest book. To find out more about the latest new media acquisitions, you might start with Katie's coverage on this week's Podcast Salad (podcastsalad.com). Super-vlogger Chuck Olsen actually has far to many projects to mention, but you can find most of them via Minnesota Stories (mnstories.com), my favorite is the seldom updated MookiTV (mookitv.com). I've been slowly building a Warhammer 40k Necron army, and at home we are currently teaching ourselves how to play. The Blood Red Citadel spray paint is actually for an army of Space Marines. We'd looked in all our usual haunts for it, and store owners couldn't even verify it's existence! So finding it in a random store in Colorado Springs was a huge triumph. My favorite geek store is Battleground Games (battlegroundgames.com) in Abington Massachusetts. If you're anywhere near, it is worth the drive to check it out. Please leave me feedback in the comments section of geekgirl.tv, and if you use iTunes, please leave me a review at the iTunes music store. 'Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top, 'be your best friend?
