You won t find this as a surprise, but some of my junk is on that list. So we talk about that. Here are some links that come up in this show - Love Hurts - My post on quiting drinking again. - The Etcetera Facebook group - The Steve Brown Etc. Homosexuals & Evangelicals - The Internet Monk on SBE
from Steve Brown Etc. May 09, 2008
The Internet Monk, Michael Spencer, joins us on Steve Brown Etc. this week to talk about gays, lesbians and evangelicals. Use one of the options below to listen. When homosexuals listen to evangelicals, what do they hear? One friend of mine suggested that we sound like the teacher from the Peanuts cartoons, Wa wah wa. Wah wa wa wah. But much of the time, our words are far more caustic. Join us as we discuss the subject in the context of Michael s insightful and controversial piece, What do Gays and Lesbians Hear?. Michael Spencer is a popular blogger, podcaster and self-described post-evangelical. Go to InternetMonk.com for his regular posts and podcasts. Also, visit The Guest Room for his piece, Jesus Watches Your Church Ad. Michael has been blogging since 2000. He has a master s degree in Theology, is currently a campus minister living in a Christian community in southeastern Kentucky, and has been a teacher in churches and schools for more than 30 years.

God and Politics 2008
from NOW on PBS January 25, 2008
No recent Republican President has won without the help of Evangelical Christian voters, and they are credited with Mike Huckabee's recent meteoric rise in the polls. But some in the Evangelical community, disillusioned by what they see as broken promises from the Bush Administration, are rethinking their political strategies. NOW on PBS travels to Wichita, Kansas to investigate how and why the movement is shifting away from hot button issues like abortion and gay rights to broader and less divisive issues like Global Warming and AIDS. Is the religious right forging a new path, and how will it affect their political clout?

Are Cheyenne Friends Snowmen?
from Puddlegum December 07, 2007
RIO DE JANEIRO - Beau Jennings from Cheyenne, with Ryan Lindsay (Starlight Mints) and Josh Jones (The Evangelicals) got together and recorded All My Friends Are Snowmen, under the band name Big Love Hospital. Unfortunately, this song won t be on Cheyenne s upcoming release, one of my favorites this year, The Whale. Big Love Hospital - All My Friends Are Snowmen The Whale was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Mastering. He s done all sorts of sweet stuff like Fleetwood Mac, Ben Folds, Sufjan, etc.Its been a little more than 2 years in the making. Personally, my favorite thing about this record is that is was written and recorded together as a band, which is a big difference from the first album. There are a few exceptions that were unavoidable in terms of getting a true 4 way input from everyone but i know that heath, Josh, Ben and I are very proud of this album, which we are calling it The Whale. Said Beau Jennings [vocals, guitar, piano] on their blog on Myspace Music. The Whale is the result of Cheyenne s journey from the Midwest to the east coast, from a one man solo project to a true-blue working band, from gentle folk desperation to rock and roll deliverance. Collaborating with Cheyenne, Starlight Mints member and pop wonder Ryan Lindsey, Ex-Fruit Bats pedal steel player Rob Stephenson, Josh Jones of Oklahoma s Evangelicals, New York City anti-folk singer Jaymay, Oklahoma s legendary lost songwriter Tim Miser, and veteran drummer James McAllister. The cd will be released on Dec. 11th and the band is having a release party at place called Joe s Pub on December 8th. Even with all of the band members having full time jobs, such as an architect, computer tech, writer, etc, the band has played a lot over the summer to support the release of The Land Rush EP and now they are currently in the process of self-booking their spring tour in support of their upcoming CD. Cheyenne is for sure a band to keep an eye on. Cheyenne - The Whale (more ) Tags: Alan Douches, Beau Jennings, Big Love Hospital, Cheyenne, Evangelicals, Ryan Lindsey, Starlight Mints

Rudy Giuliani Can't Win!
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) November 04, 2007
You don't get liberal voters by being a little liberal when the Democrat's going to be a full-fledged liberal. You go get independent voters and some liberals by being confident, and conservative, and upbeat, and optimistic, and telling people why this is the greatest country in the world and how it's going to be even greater depending on them, because it's the people who make the country work. Having them inspired, and motivated, and proud, and happy to be Americans is what conservatism is all about. Liberalism has got so much disgust and disregard for this country it makes me sick. So, for me, it's a little frustrating because there's such an opportunity here to smoke these people, I mean literally smoke 'em in a landslide. Instead, we're trying to pick off a few little liberals here in the northeast and in the western states with a little subtle change in our social policy and so forth -- a guaranteed loser. It's never worked. -Rush Limbaugh http://WWW.ULTIMITT.ORG
