Episode 80 - the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit!
from Attitudes of sexual integrity! Dedicated to sex addiction recovery. July 25, 2008
EPH 6:17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,Lyrics: Linkin Park - Easier to Run It's easier to run Replacing this pain with something numb It's so much easier to go Than face all this pain here all alone Something has been taken From deep inside of me A secret I've kept locked away No one can ever see Wounds so deep they never show They never go away Like moving pictures in my head For years and years they've played If I could change I would Take back the pain I would Retrace every wrong move that I made I would If I could take all the shame to the grave I would, Its easier to run!

Diverting Distractions
from LifePoints July 20, 2008
July 20 2008 Nehemiah 6:1-14 Dr. Roger Ferguson, Sr. Pastor THEME: Satan appears as your best friend and disguises himself as an “angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14) who will do you a favor. His horrific destruction follows if you are deceived. On the other hand God promises His presence and provision to those who honor Him. Will you be distracted or a “fully devoted follower of Christ”? I. Satan’s ________________ of distractions: 1. Ungodly compromise which promises you’ll benefit. (Nehemiah 6:1-4) “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!” I Corinthians 10:12 2. Criticism slanted to discourage. (Nehemiah 6:5-9) 3. Induced fear that God will fail you if you follow Him. (Nehemiah 6:10-14) II. Destroy Satan’s arsenal with full devotion to Christ: 1. Keep doing what honors God. (Nehemiah 6:5) 2. Ignore critics and stay on task. (Nehemiah 6:8-9) 3. Replace fear with faithful action and watch God show up! (Nehemiah 6:15) Live in the light of God’s love! II Corinthians 10:5 tells us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. With that in mind what will you do with what you have heard today? 1. Which of Satan’s arsenals are you most vulnerable to? 2. What will you do differently starting today? 3. Today, why don’t you ask Christ to forgive your sin and lead your life? Episode79 - Armor of God - The shield of Faith
from Attitudes of sexual integrity! Dedicated to sex addiction recovery. July 17, 2008
The shield of Faith - I want to call your attention to this one piece of the armor carried by the blood bought. The shield that Paul had in mind here is not the small, round dish looking thing, but the oblong, door-like shield, measuring 4' x 2 ', curved to the shape of the body and carried by the Greek and Roman soldiers. When joined together, these large shields formed a wall behind which a body of troops could hide themselves from the rain of the enemy's missiles. These military shields were made of wood, covered on the out side with thick leather, which not only deadened the shock of the missile, but protected the frame of the shield from the fire-tipped darts used in the artillery of the ancients. Contrary to popular teaching, faith is not mental delusion, behavior replacement or presumption and it is not evidenced by self-bolstering surface sucess, but a work of the Holy Spirit from the inside out. Roots to fruits.EPH 6:16 (KJV) "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." Rom 10:17 (NIV) Faith comes by hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

The Strength of Humility?
from LifePoints July 13, 2008
July 13, 2008 Nehemiah 5:14-19 Dr. Roger Ferguson, Sr. Pastor THEME: There are two types of people in every age. One is the shallow, razzle-dazzle, “all about me” type. The other type of person does everything with excellence and for the glory of God. The first type flourishes then fizzles. The second type honors God, helps others and is contagious to follow. The second changes families, businesses and culture for God’s glory. What are you believing God for today? How do your actions demonstrate faith in Him? I. The strength of humility is shown by doing more than is expected. (Nehemiah 5:14-18) Time + Consistency = Influence II. The strength of humility grows from a genuine fear of God. (Nehemiah 5:15b, 19) “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding. To Him belongs eternal praise.” Psalm 111:10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” Proverbs 1:7 Act in God’s Truth: 1. What did you learn today to help live in the strength of humility? 2. What will you do differently this week to practice what you’ve learned? 3. Have you trusted Christ as your Savior and followed Him in baptism? First Baptist Church Owasso 13307 East 96th Street North Owasso, OK 74055 www.fbcowasso.org 918-272-2294

from Attitudes of sexual integrity! Dedicated to sex addiction recovery. July 11, 2008
Visualizing the need for shoes! the ground is hard, hot, sharp and like it or not we need to strap on, to put on shoes. to get us up to embrace the comming days with readiness. Ephesians 6:15 (Amplified Bible) And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. 1 Corinthians 9:27 (Amplified Bible) 27But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].
