His house, his seed suffered because of his sin. These women have put their seed in jeopardy by their rebellion. Also within the story of David and Bathsheba is the story of Jezebel. There is no account of Bathsheba saying, no, no, I am a married woman . She seems to be complicit and accommodating to David s sin. Was she rebellious herself to begin with? Secondly, I was to have my wife look up the word despise in the dictionary. Webster s Dictionary Despise: 1. to look down on with contempt or aversion 2. to regard as negligible, worthless, or distasteful I pointed out that ignoring God s word was regarding Him and His Word as worthless. Ignoring your husband s word is regarding not only your husband as worthless but also God because it is in direct rebellion to His command. I have been pointing out to her that God had said that there is something else that she needed to handle. She would consistently and often angrily proclaim that there wasn t. It took a day but she confessed she had resentment towards me; that fits with despised. Resentment and despite are just forms of judgment that she knows better or would have done better. Most will not listen but the Lord can say that they ve been told before they are cast out the window. She can t tell the truth from a lie and actually believes the lie is true. There must first be that willingness in the recesses of the heart to come into order no matter what it looks or feels like to them. Their feelings cannot be trusted because it s based on faulty information or lies. Secondly the mind must be willing to say this is God s Word and I will follow it period. The Chicago Tribune Redeye blog put forth the idea that the simultaneous outage of Gmail and MobileMe push service for conventional email on Monday afternoon was something of note. And solicited - via a Tweet - the opinions of about 400 who were following. The 400 reacted with a general ho-hum implying that they had the communications channel that they needed/wanted/used - namely Twitter - and that they were in fact only mildly interested in the outage otherwise. Like many parents who are amazed that their teenagers don t actually make phone calls - but prefer to text their friends - this is bound to make some news. Or at least generate a few comments. Well, here s mine: I don t think Twitter is going to come close to the utility of searchable GMail records. It is a great substitute for IM, it s fun to keep in touch, and it s a breath of fresh air for communications. But for at least the next two or three decades - email (or the long tail of email) is going to be the communications medium. Let s just hope Gmail keeps evolving along with it.
