On da Road Vol.2 #2 - 'Clandestinos'On da Road Vol.2 #2 - 'Clandestinos'

Clandestinos We hardly ever come in contact with the real clandestine. In some way, we too consider ourselves clandestine in the sense of an inner feeling, state of mind, disconnection and collective human condition. Clandestine of today are the ones who are escaping wars, hunger and thirst; persecution of all kind; political dictatorships, ethnic cleansing, racial and religious intolerance, destitutions from land and countries, ecological disasters, cultural and spiritual persecutions... clandestine of so many kind, the so-called 'criminals'. Today, the Superpowers - 'The New World Order', have already created in our own homes, prisons within the state prison by segregating and dividing, selecting and controlling, with only intent to dominate the nations and enslave the rest of the world. They are building high concrete walls and borders, razor barb wires, electrocuting fences, detector gates, cameras to observe and spy... they are scrutinising our most personal identity holdings and are constantly violating human rights. This state of affairs, this aim of Super Powers and Bilderberg Collective, New World Order have only one purpose; and this is to maintain and expand the power and wealth with help of the army against anyone who will oppose or revolt to their megalomanic aspirations and greed. Here on U-Toob we also feel clandestine. Corporate tendencies are wanting to take over, censorship is massive. People are feeling pressure of many kinds that in some way we are all here; undercover, underground, outsider or clandestine. Still we people are alert, mobile, we are organising ourselves in unity of intent to revolutionise and break the borders of nationalities, flags, various colonisations and slavery. We are practicing the universal mind for unity. Clandestinos are just like some of the flowers in this video that do not belong to the native landscape but still fit wonderfully in the beautiful kaleidoscopic visions of the land and people of the Earth. Carlos Eire, Yale University: "A Brusque History of Eternity - Lecture 3: From Eternity to Five-Year Plans" – November 8, 2007Carlos Eire, Yale University: "A Brusque History of Eternity - Lecture 3: From Eternity to Five-Year Plans" – November 8, 2007
from Princeton University Podcasts
November 08, 2007

Until fairly recently eternity was no mere abstraction or metaphor in the Christian tradition, but rather the ultimate destination for humankind, a metaphysical conceit with practical implications as inescapable as legal obligations, or taxes, or death. Eternity was an ineffable mystery, to be sure, but of no less value in human interaction than money itself, or crowns and thrones. In our own day, however, eternity seems a purely abstract concept best left in the hands of astrophysicists, a frightfully uncertain horizon divorced from daily life. How was it that eternity emerged in the West as something more than a mere concept? How was it that it ceased to function as an organizing principle for daily life? What difference does this history make? That is the subject of these lectures. More specifically, these lectures will explore how a transcendent higher reality has been conceived in the West, and how such conceptions relate to social, political, and economic realities. Lecture 3: "From Eternity to Five-Year Plans" will focus on the ways in which the Christian West came to rid itself of eternity, and on the social, political, and economic effects of this reordering of the cosmos. In closing, some meditations will be offered on highly ironic parallels between what has been discarded and current scientific theories of time and eternity. A Spencer Trask Lecture, cosponsored by Princeton University Press.

Lecture 2: "Protestantism and the Reformation of Eternity" will analyze how Protestants transformed Western conceptions of eternity, shifting attention from otherworldly concerns to earthly realities, reordering society and the European economy in radical ways that we now consider "modern." A Spencer Trask Lecture, cosponsored by Princeton University Press.

More specifically, these lectures will explore how a transcendent higher reality has been conceived in the West, and how such conceptions relate to social, political, and economic realities. Lecture 1: "The Birth of Eternity" will trace the development of the concept of eternity in the first 15 centuries of Christian history, focusing on four of the principal ways in which eternity was made manifest in concrete ways, investing daily life with an otherworldly character: ritual, monasticism, mysticism, and church-state relations. A Spencer Trask Lecture, cosponsored by Princeton University Press.
