Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed When was the last time you gave your time to your community - volunteering for something? The last time I did something was at ComcastCares Day. It was a tent set up by Comcast, staffed by local social media folks. We were spreading the message of the power of social media specifically to non-profit organizations. We taught them how to use outlets such as Twitter and Facebook to get their message across. Maybe you want to volunteer your time and resources in your community - but you just don t know where to start. Maybe you want to host your own Volun-Tweetup. Or maybe you want to do something a bit different. You can now check out All for Good. This site will help you connect with local volunteer opportunities. It s non-partisan, nothing political is involved. It doesn t matter what party you may belong to - what matters is that you want to help others. All for Good is a simple-to-use web application that helps you find volunteer opportunities in your local community. You can get started by entering search terms (e.g. “seniors” or “education”) at the top of the All for Good home page. Once you enter these initial keywords you’ll be taken to a page of relevant results based on your keyword(s) and location. Tap into your passions when looking for something to volunteer your time with. Your community needs you. If you re doing nothing this weekend why not look for a way you can help? You ll not only be helping others, you ll feel good about yourself and maybe meet some new friends. Want to embed this video on your own site, blog, or forum? Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed They say that when God closes a door, he makes you use Windows. Of course, it depends on what kind of God you have as to what version he makes you use. My God would make you use Windows 7. Your God may not be so nice, and make you use Windows Vista. We have to deal with Windows, even if we don t use it on a regular basis. Michael from the PCPitStop community wrote in asking about using Windows XP on his Vista machine. Michael says that his Acer machine currently runs Windows Vista, but he prefers to use XP Pro. He says he knows that the operating system is burned onto the HDD, and so he thinks he ll have to change the HDD. Michael - this isn t going to be as difficult as you imagine it will be. It is quite possible to change from Vista to XP on a computer. You may run into snags relating to drivers, and will have to try and find compatible ones. Be aware that some of your hardware may not have drivers for XP - meaning that a switch back to XP would be impossible. The operating system isn t burnt into the hard drive. It can be taken off (wiped clean) and another operating system can be placed right onto the hard drive you already have. You could alternately set yourself up with a dual-boot, running both XP and Vista. Theoretically, yes.. you can do what you re asking. Practically, you may want to check with your hardware manufacturers (or even Acer) websites to make sure that they have drivers available for XP. Watch out for it, because that s the one thing that could hurt you the most. Want to embed this video on your own site, blog, or forum? From : Food Wishes Video Recipes
If you saw the video recipe for the London Broil I did using the Normanton Farm's grass-fed beef, you saw me save some of the top round, which had a little more connective tissue in it, to make a meat sauce recipe. This is that. Most meat sauce recipes call for ground beef, and as most butchers will tell you (off the record), it isn't exactly the premium cuts that go into making ground beef. In fact, usually included somewhere in their answer is the statement, "you really don’t want to know." This super-easy video recipe for a braised beef pasta sauce is similar to regular ground meat sauces, but instead uses freshly cubed beef as the base. The advantages are obvious and quite delicious. Using this method, you get to choose the cut you like; I used top round, but rump roast, or chuck steak would be just as good. You can also control the fat content, trimming as you and your summer Speedo see fit. Enjoy! Ingredients: 1 pound top round steak (may substitute rump roast, or chuck steak) 2 tbsp olive oil salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste red pepper flakes to taste 4 cloves garlic, minced 1 bunch green onions, white and light green parts only, chopped 1/2 cup beef broth or water 1/2 cup milk 1 (28-oz) jar prepared pasta sauce 1 (14.5-oz) package penne pasta, cooked grated Parmesan cheese as needed ]]>

20462003 I Will Sponsor Your Podcast http://www.mefeedia.com/entry/i-will-sponsor-your-podcast/20462003
From : School of Podcasting - Learn To Podcast
In today s episode I talk about how I ve been earning three figure incomes using affiliate marketing. You can find products that fit your audience at places such as Share a Sale and Commission Junction. You are assigned a specific URL so that when people click your link and then purchasr that product, you earn a commission. Well it just so happens that the School of Podcasting has an affiliate program that currently is paying 30% of the sale when anyone signs up, and 10% for every month they stay signed up.  I also have an affiliate program for another membership site I have is at Marketing Musician where you earn 20% for every person that signs up. So many people want to try to sell advertising on their podcast like radio does. PODCASTING IS NOT RADIO. Let s talk about advertising. You can get help, or you can do it yourself. Let s take a peak. Well the problem is many people think Podcasting as if it is Radio where you might get $10-$15 per 1000 listeners. The key point is, you have to have the radio on at the time, and be listening. If not you miss it - you miss it. With podcasting that advertisement will be there tomorrow, and it will be there a year from now. People find a podcast and go back and download all the old episodes (with the advertisement). So if they think a podcast is the same as radio, they are HORRIBLY mistaken. There are other things to consider. Will you put a link to their website on your website? Is there an image, banner, etc. You can use these to negotiate price with the potential advertiser. YOU need to prove that you are sending the  advertiser traffic.  I recommend getting some sort of click tracking software ( Cloak and Tracker is my favorite ) so I can say I ve delivered 152 visitors to your site). An alternative is to have the advertiser set up a landing page (www.theirwebsites.com/podcast) so they can see the traffic and KNOW it came from you. You might also see if the advertiser has a way to produce a coupon or a special deal (again so they know that when this coupon was used, that customer came from your podcast). You have to provide the proof. I am actually making more money with affiliate marketing instead of selling CPM (cost per thousand). When the visitor buys using a unique link from me, I get a commission. This works when you find the right product that matches your audience. You can find affiliate program at places like Share a Sale, and Commission Junction. You also need to make it easy to get to your affiliate link. So you can set up a subdomain on your website that redirects to your affilaite link. You can also set up an entire store if you are using Amazon.com s affiliate tools. To see this in action go to http://shop.growyourchurchshow.com (however Amazon requires a TON of traffic to make any significant money). As for how much to charge, if you re going the CPM route, somewhere around $15 - $20 CPM is unfortunately very low, but typical (well actually a pipe dream). I feel this is because people don t understand that the advertisement is permanent (unless you go back and edit it out). This model pays the bills when you have 10,000 listeners per episode. That works for a chosen few podcasters. Doing a quick google search on CPM pricing for radio. I found the following: according to an August study from the IAB and Bain Capital, the average CPMs on ad networks ranged from 60 cents to $1.10 $9 CPM for a radio spot $1-$2 per CPM So you can see where when I say $10-$15 per CPM, I m already getting more than radio. The bad news is I don t have the audience of radio. On the other side, I got a $200 affiliate check last week. If I was selling CPM at $20 (again, some would call that a fantasy) I would have had to have 10,000 downloads. As most of my podcasts have about 500 listeners that would ve taken me about 5 months or $10 a show. The good news is I ve been promoting this program for about two months (not five). I ve done 8 shows in two months, so that means I m getting paid $25 a show (or $50 per cpm 25/500 X 1000 - I think my math is correct)). I won t retire on this, but with affiliate marketing I make just as much (if not more) than CPM, and its ever green. I get paid whenever a visitor acts (not if the advertiser decides to renew their agreement). Just remember if you have advertising, you are going to have to prove that you sent them traffic (if you want them to renew their advertising when it runs out). 20461498 Deviled Shrimp Ragu Over Creamy Corn Custard – Hell Yeah! http://www.mefeedia.com/entry/deviled-shrimp-ragu-over-creamy-corn-custard-hell-yeah/20461498
From : Food Wishes Video Recipes
As promised, here is part 2 to the heavenly corn custard video recipe I just posted. This sexy seafood concoction is a slightly more refined take on the southern classic, shrimp and grits. Grits has yet to find its way into my repertoire. I've made it maybe twice in 30 years of cooking. I don’t even remember if I like it, but I like polenta, and every time I see someone on TV making, or eating shrimp and grits, I think to myself, "that looks great, I really should make that." Whatever the inspiration, this subtly sweet, fairly fiery shrimp ragu poured over the light, creamy custard was a magnificent combination. The firm spicy shrimp and the soft, sweet corn not only complimented each other, they pushed each other to places neither could have reached alone. This would make a fantastic first course for any summer dinner, and it's certainly rich enough to be enjoyed as a entrée. You can also pour this over rice or noodles with complete confidence. Enjoy! Ingredients: 1/2 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined, shells reserved 1 cups water 1 bay leaf 1 tbsp brown sugar 1/4 cup ketchup 1/2 lemon, juiced 1/2 tsp chipotle pepper 1/2 tsp smoked paprika 1 clove garlic, minced very fine salt to taste cayenne to taste, optional 1 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp minced chives 1 tbsp cold unsalted butter ]]>

From : Izzy Video
One of the big challenges of working with an HD video camera is ensuring the image is in focus. Unfortunately you can’t just rely on the LCD for this, because the actual resolution of the recorded image is much higher than the resolution of the LCD screen. It’s quite possible that the image on the LCD appears to be in focus when the recorded image is blurry. Luckily HD video cameras have autofocus. The camera automatically focuses the image, and it usually does an excellent job. However there are times when the autofocus doesn’t work: 1. When the subject isn’t in the center of the frame. – Sometimes you want the subject of the image to be off to the left or right of the frame. The problem here is that autofocus adjusts according to what it sees in the center of the frame. If the object in the center is closer or further than the main subject, then the camera will adjust the focus for that object, often leaving the main subject blurry. 2. When somebody or something passes through the frame between the camera and the subject. – I demonstrate this problem in the video, but it’s something that happens a lot. Let’s say you’re at the zoo shooting video of your children with the animals. As people walk through the frame, the camera will autofocus on the people walking by, and then refocus on the children. This gets distracting. It’s a much better image if the people in the foreground remain blurry as they walk through the frame. In this week’s tutorial I demonstrate several different ways to ensure you have a focused image: 1. Use autofocus when appropriate. 2. Use manual focus when appropriate. 3. Use the ‘focus assist’ function available on many cameras. 4. Zoom in, focus the image, and then zoom out to frame the image, making sure you don’t adjust the aperture. 5. Use the “peaking” function available on many new cameras. Another thing you can do (and I didn’t include this in the video) is use an externally attached monitor with a bigger image. This can help ensure you’re always in focus. Few things are as frustrating as shooting some great footage and then later when you’re editing it, discovering that it’s out of focus. It’s inconvenient and frustrating, and if you’re doing commercial work, it’s expensive. I hope this week’s tutorial helps you make sure you get a focused image. Here’s a link to the video. If you’d like to see this video in HD resolution, as well as gain access to the large archive of video tutorials, you can learn about an Izzy Video Membership. ]]>
