Hey everybody, sorry it took so long to get this episode out! I know its been a long time since the last one... a lot of, shall we say, --interesting-- things have been happening here at the studio, to put it nicely. ;) But yeah, here is some video that i have been really excited to put out on the web. This show was shot the same night Viernes 13 performed a few months ago at the Allen, but due to whatever background issues going on here at the studio, I am just now getting to posting it. Juan, the lead singer from Viernes 13, told me to go up to the stage and check them out. They were performing before V13, and i figured I would take him up on the offer to go up near the stage and fiddle with my camera, get light levels, ect. Seeing as I had never heard of them before that night, lets just say that I was taken totally by surprise! These guys tore it up! They put on a really good, energetic show! To be honest, I never thought in my life that I would see a bunch of kids pack a club and start a frenetic mosh pit to a band that features an accordion as a main instrument! But somehow, it really fuckin works! So yeah, I am now a fan of Los Skarnales...My apologies for the video quality; sometimes its hard to be in a dark club with a camera, and about 500 hyper 17 year olds jumping up and down, and a band that just cant stay still... ;) For those of you who dont know who they are, here is their bio and a few links where you can get more info on them: Los Skarnales Leading Houston's local music scene, Los Skarnales have kept their reputation by sticking to a unique blend of sound that is what some might describe as "Third Coast." This blend of music comes from the influence of Jamaican ska, rockabilly, and reggae. Los Skarnales are known mostly for an unmistakable energy as they perform across Texas, the U.S., and Mexico. It is alsohas been released in Spain October 05 under Megalith Records (Spain). Houston's Own, Los Skarnales are a collective of Houston musicans playing in hybrids of styles ranging from ska, rockabilly, punk, soul, conjunto among many others. Just because you all have been so good in your support, i'll post a few videos here that i have been holding back on...;) As far as i can remember, this video was posted on a site for a Record/Video store in San Diego a few years back. I cant remember the name of the store, but I did get a chance to visit it. It was a cool place, and they were cool people. If anybody knows the name of the place, go ahead and post it by using the comment link at the bottom of the post...At any rate, I checked out their site and they had these classic video clips up, promoting shows that they had filmed. So me, and probably a few thousand pther people, downloaded them! lol!You can find these clips all over the net now, as they have become classic reggae downloads. It came to me on a blank DVD from the director, John Martinez, so I don't even know the name of the song! Once I get a hold of John again, I will post it, of course. Mr. "Fuego Caliente" himself, Fidel Nadal, is here in the studio as I speak! He is here all the way from Argentina to do some shows in the USA, and to do some recording with Quinto Sol!Fidel has just wrote down all these links to video of him on the web, to post for you to see, if you have not found them already...Here is Fidel Nadal at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, California, with the Run For Cover Band, featuring members of Quinto Sol. It was recorded in Febuary of 2005. I got it from Fidel's website, www.fidelnadal.net, who, in turn, got it from a fan I guess. The website its from has no address other than an IP number, so i dont know who to attribute it to, other than Fidel.
