From : Inside Digital Media
A recent appellate court decision, in combination with the NBC’s Olympic TV viewing experience, may well prompt acceleration in the adoption of DVRs (e.g. TiVo’s). I discuss the points with Jim Burger, who is a copyright attorney with DowLohnes in Washington D.C. Originally Cablevision announced plans to offer a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) service to be hosted within the physical CATV network instead via on-premises equipment that must be installed in the homes of individual subscribers. Thus, the company could avoid the expense of installing new set-top boxes for those subscribers choosing the DVR service. (more )

		 From : YouTube :: Tag //  business
This is Asianwolf's new 4 channel standalone DVR system with motorized retractable LCD TFT color monitor, the W4DVRLCD. This black LCD DVR unit has 4 audio and video channels and records in real time at 120 FPS or 30 fps per channel. It has a USB connection. The LCD has all of the necessary detection functions as well as several different entertainment functions, like games and built in speakers. Not only can the W4DVRLCD record manually, it can also record in motion detection mode, alarm mode, or schedule mode. The on screen menu display makes the W4DVRLCD very easy and very user friendly. It even has detailed controls for brightness, contrast, and color adjustments to each connected camera. The DVR has MPEG-4 compression with a resolution of 740x480. It has 4 video in and 4 audio in inputs as well as one video out and audio out output. It takes a DC12V power supply to run. This DVR is perfect for any type of surveillance system. Whether you are a homeowner looking to add some extra security to your house to protect your family or a business owner who wants to watch your store or employees when you are not there, this DVR system is the unit for you. The unit records directly on to a hard drive and loop records when the hard drive becomes full, recording over the oldest video clips first. You can purchase a 250GB or a 500 GB hard drive from us. It can hold up to a one terabyte hard drive. The W4DVRLCD is incredibly easy to setup. Simply install a hard drive in to the unit, plug it in using the power adapter and turn on the power. I was using a website to watch my shows. Does that make it any less of a TV? Do I really need a TV to watch my favorite television shows? TV on the Web? Really? Ohhh yeah, really. How convenient is that? TidalTV looks much like you would expect a full-on DVR experience to look on a real television. The channels available are relatively mainstream. There are more channels available than what you would possibly expect on a service like this. You can search and browse through the different major channels, or even check out their listing of on demand shows. Kat got distracted while researching this site for the blog post. She found out that the Food Network channel is on here, and Paula Deen just happened to be showing at that time. We may have lost her for awhile, y all. She s quite addicted to the lovely Paula. Oh no she just found the Wedding network. Since her daughter is getting married at the end of September, we may not see Kat surface again until after that. Apparently, that particular channel has everything and anything you can think of that has to do with weddings. See what I mean? You can sit right at your computer and watch all your favorite television shows. It s completely free, and there s nothing to sign up for. How much better could it possibly get? DishTVforPC.com. From : The Chris Pirillo Show
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed I recently mentioned the fact that I have a TiVo unit on loan, and I m enjoying it quite a lot. Once you start using it, it s difficult to start using any other kind of DVR. With the latest software update to this particular TiVo, I can now watch YouTube videos on my big screen tv. When you connect your TiVo DVR to your home network and high-speed Internet connection you get so much more than just a basic DVR. Download thousands of movies and TV shows from Amazon Unbox Listen to millions of songs with the Rhapsody music service Share photos and home movies with friends family, and view them on the TV Transfer your favorite TV shows to your laptop or iPod using your PC or Mac But don t worry if you can t connect your TiVo DVR to the Internet. As long as you have a phone line available, TiVo will still find and record all your favorite shows, keep your TV schedule current, and make sure your TiVo DVR has the latest updates. Like I already said, there s just no way that I could ever switch to another DVR service after using TiVo. The experience has been amazing, and I m definitely happy that I tried it out. From : Chris Pirillo
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed After I blogged recently about wanting to try TiVo, I was sent a unit to review for a few weeks. I ve been wanting to try it out, so this was a great opportunity. With certain software, you can take programs you record on TiVo and transcode them on your computer. You can then turn them into videos you can watch on pretty much any device. All the DVRs I ve had are boxes unto themselves, they couldn t be networked in any way. By networking my TiVo, I can then do as I described, to create videos I can play on my computer, iPhone or any other device I wanted to use. Here are a couple of programs you can use to accomplish this. TiVo Butler is an application that can track programs from multiple TiVo devices that you have on your home network. It s free, and allows you to browse the recordings you ve made on your TiVo. You can download them, encode them and much more. TiVo Butler is only available for Mac OS X. However TiVo Playlist is the Windows equivalent. Everything that you could hope to do with your TiVo, you ll be able to do with ease using TiVo Playlist. From : YouTube :: Videos by LockerGnome
http://live.pirillo.com - After I blogged recently about wanting to try TiVo, I was sent a unit to review for a few weeks. I've been wanting to try it out, so this was a great opportunity. With certain software, you can take programs you record on TiVo and transcode them on your computer. You can then turn them into videos you can watch on pretty much any device. From : Jaffe Juice
Due to various personal reasons, I've been uncharacteristically unconversational (not a real word, but whateva). My last post was July 9th and I guess I feel a little more comfortable today to get back into the swing of things. So here goes with some linkety-link: Conversational marketing is in wikipedia. No mention of me or Join the Conversation so I added it myself. My experience with Wikipedia is that this will probably be removed, so if you'd like to add to this entry, please feel free to do so. Westport Library is twittering. Now if that isn't the twitting point, I don't know what is. More twitter....a VERY interesting approach by Len Kendall to solving Twitter's service woes. Could this be the future of community-led business model monetization? Group M pairs search with social media. The sound you just heard was the sound of dumbness. Steve Lubetkin publishes a podcast on my SNCR keynote. Love the pic, Steve :) The rock stars of 2.0 - mildly humorous (read: ridiculous) that I'm above Larry Page + Sergey Brin, Jimmy Wales, Stowe Boyd, Doc Searls, Steve Jobs, Steve Chen and more. Vote early and often. First prize is the real rock start accolade: Guitar Hero. The 5 creepiest ad techniques of the (near) future. And they are: 5) Tracking every site you browse and every show you watch, 4) Custom-made shilling, 3) Fusing ads and culture, 2) Going undercover and 1) Getting in your head. The real sad part to this article is how many of these worst practices are in place right now! Firefox apparently set a world record on June 8 with a bumrush-type community effort to download the latest version of the popular browser. I heard mixed reports about how this turned out, with server/file outages impeding the day's efforts. That reminds me...now that I've purged my 50+ tabs, it's time for me to update Firefox as well! What the F*** is social media? Find out here. This presentation from Marta Kagan is getting a ton of views. Congrats to her! What The F**K is Social Media?view presentation (tags: socialmediamarketing marketing web2.0 socialmedia) Anti-conversation meme going around. Really very pathetic and when I get the strength I'll respond to this neurotic search for the next new big thing Wearing the brand. A very nice "campaign" for CNN using T-shirts as ways of immortalizing headlines in a very smart and creative way. Interesting post relating to Delta Skelter, where I'm being compared to Kevin Rose and Robert Scoble insofar that influence has been misused for personal gain. I weigh in with my response in the comment section. It's a good debate, although I'm still not thrilled with being compared to Rose and Scoble (see the rock star point) More Skelter...an Ad Age opinion piece from Craig Daitch on my Delta experience. One Red Paperclip's Kyle MacDonald published a book on his accomplishment, but like many athletes who went out on top, perhaps should have stayed retired. He's trying to barter once again, this time using his house as the starting point. From what I read, lightening hasn't struck the same place twice.
