Mauricio Kagel was one of the four conductors of the separate orchestras at the premiere of Stockhausen's Carré. Like countless of his proteges, Kagel ended up estranged from Stockhausen, but he set himself apart by miles as a compositional voice of the first order. A long-standing desire of ours is to perform his piece for 111 bicyclists Eine Brise, but we're currently short, oh, about a hundred cyclists. At ARTSaha! 2008, dung performed Kagel's Fanfanfaren. The 12 short pieces for four trumpets explore the entire range of trumpet techniques, and dung will perform them again on September 27 at the Festival of New Trumpet Music. Kagel will be missed.

It's the annual dung ball race. Jockey's are in place and the rollers are rolling. Ball 1 maintains a lead until he has a runaway ball. Ball 2 pulls up alongside him and overtakes. But can he hold the lead. He faulters and Ball 1 takes the lead again. Then Ball 1 has a runaway ball and Roller 1 loses his ball. Can he find it in time before Ball 2 takes the lead? After a slow and unsuccessful nights hunting the youngsters of the Nduna pride are full of energy. And a poor mopanie tree takes a beating from them. Then a new toy, a piece of dried out buffalo dung. Finished with that and the tree gets the gears again. Just 2 playful kitties after a hard nights hunting.
