SomaCow 336: Scheduling

SomaCow 336: Scheduling

from SomaCow on June 12, 2009
Duration: 4014
Originally posted up (get it, another basketball reference but eerily appropriate!) at SomaCow.com OK, seriously, we ve been putting out SomaCow shows on the Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule for eons. This means the blogs are written Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday night. So why do they keep playing the NBA finals games on blog writing night??? And Geoff is out in the garage Studio G trying to fix things now that our a/c was completely destroyed today (yeah, the one we just bought). So here I am, by myself. But let me take this time to mention our good friends at The Channel Project. Check out their shows! In this, their finest hour, the guys talked about comedians, sponsors, and barbecue. The guys are trying to make their top list but what is a good number? 100? Is that too long? But seriously can you only do 10? We would love some more sponsors, too bad the car industry is sucking so bad. Maybe some of the local barbecue places? Barbecue is really something that s hard to chain, it needs to be some home cooking. I m really sorry these are so short but the game is back on. And the baby is pulling out the power cord. And I m thirsty. Bye! Jen

SomaCow 289: Twarnival

SomaCow 289: Twarnival

from SomaCow on February 23, 2009
Duration: 3657
SomaCow Media is proud to present SomaCow, brought to you in this hour by The Drew Show. Check em out! They invented the word Twarnival, for crying out loud! In this hour we discussed Orlando s Tweetup, which was a pretty good initial effort, with 100+ attendees crammed into a bar, laughing, talking, and desperately seeking drinks. Thanks again to Etanowitz of the Orlando Sentinel for setting it all up. I am not kidding I met way too many people to list, so I will just randomly toss links at you to enjoy as you listen to this episode: It was nice to see PeakArts again, and he and his lovely significant other (whose blog you can see here with pics) gave me some sweet keychains containing his art. I hoard them now, but you can swing by his site and check out all his stuff. Got to meet some new neato folks, like: Ms. Fitzpatrick, of Metromix, who covers music, bars, and clubs downtown here in Orlando. SirKyle, the shootingnest twitterer I have ever met. Carlos, of CLOS Photography - He was in radio here in town, then went out and did some TV work, and some campaign work for President Obama. Marc Middleton and crew of the GrowingBolder.com group were there, shooting video and covering the event. Want to see me on no sleep mid-Atkins? I warn you, it s scary, but Marc and his Team are not. They are doing great work, and I hope to hear more from them often. A dude that just travels the entirety of the Earth named Chuck Welch. He lives in Lakeland. Hush, RSilva. C_Lane, local musician and bar crafter extraordinaire, who may be operating on even less sleep than I. I spent an incredible few moments talking with a very tiny, very energetic momblogger who threatened to make Mickey and I the best latkes every crafted by a mom. She and I spent a few reminiscing on Ye Olden Orlando and rapidly tossing out food ideas, and I really wish I had more time. Jen Cook, our News 13 ticker goddess. The legendary Tom Sorrells, natch. Plus people from CNN, local internet misfits, Elross, a guy that works in sound engineering who may be able to isolate J s nasal whine so we can remove it from future episodes, etc It was pretty awesome. We sort of flew the flag on a possible April Tweetup involving The Ravenous Pig. Apparently, according the mmsmddsnjdnhe, if you go there on a special day once a month, they cook an entire pig roast dealio. Do not believe Mickey and his strange, awful fetal pig stories, it sounds like it is a really good time. If you were at the tweetup, and want to post your link to your stuff, please do so in the comments for this episode. And if you are NOT local, and frankly could give a crap about Twitter, we also talked about a buncha other stuff, and in the next hour, we talk about food for like a whole week. It s awesome.

SomaCow 260: Knock Knock

SomaCow 260: Knock Knock

SomaCow Media is proud to present SomaCow, brought to you this week by The Drew Show, The Redboy Podcast, The Sports Buzz, and Nobody Likes Onions. Geoff doesn t feel like writing the blog tonight and I don t blame him. After all, after about 30 minutes of him being at work he got a frantic call from me, his lovely wife, that I had a family emergency. He got someone to drive him home (one-car family) and then proceeded to drive my rambling crazy ass to Clearwater. He held my hand, sang They Might Be Giants and Bob Marley with me, and, best of all, he drove! Then he sat with me and about 80 clergy friends of my family (they aren t really that churchy but I guess pastors have nothing to do on a Tuesday morning but visit a hospital waiting room) and helped, got answers, got snacks, got drinks, kept us laughing . So it was a long day for us all and we are going to get some rest so I can go back to visit family again tomorrow. Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts, as of now everything looks good and I m sure we ll share more Live this Friday! See you then!

SomaCow 234: We Can’t Rewind We’ve Gone Too Far

SomaCow 234: We Can’t Rewind We’ve Gone Too Far

SomaCow Media is proud to present SomaCow brought to you by the Drew Show. Yep, this hour (our finest), we had Orlando s own Drew Garabo in the studios. Drew used to host talk shows on terrestrial radio here in Orlando and for many of us, was a staple every night from 7 to 11. Drew has now joined us in the uberranks of podcasting! So this hour, we talked to Drew about the state of radio today. Is it going away from terrestrial radio? What is the next big thing? Satellite or podcasts? And what is up with companies thinking that people who are listening to a talk show want to suddenly hear music? Hybrids might work in a car but not in radio. The guys also talked about sports! It s true! Listen! Golf, football, basketball it s amazing what the guys actually know about sports. I mean they couldn t give Ryan a run for his money but they have some knowledge So it was an honor and a blast having Drew in for this hour. We thank him. Check out his show! The website has all of the podcasts and he has, at least recently, been doing live shows on Tuesday nights on ustream. And for those of you catching this blog Friday, SomaCow will be doing their 3 hour live show tonight (Friday) from 8-11 PM Eastern. See you there! Related articles by Zemanta Financial Infidelity. SomaCow 209: Sad Palm Trees

SomaCow 209: Sad Palm Trees

SomaCow Media is proud to present SomaCow, brought to you in this hour by the Drew Show. Tune in every week - It s funny, and it s podcasting worth listening to. (Is that Drew s actual copy? He ended his sentence in a preposition? For SHAMERS, Drew!) While I pen well keyboard this entry, my very life is threatened, constant fan. I am terrified for the lives of my wife and child, as Hurricane Fay well Tropical Storm Fay Well Big Wet Fay continues to pummel my home. I lost internet and power long ago, and this entry is being simultyped by a hapless teletype volunteer, courtesy of AT s plan to move us and the listeners to Oklahoma, where we will presumably grow and broadcast internet corn or whatever the hell it is that Okies do out there. I submit the solution to all our problems, which is Melting Pot 2.0 (Super Loins). Tune in and hear the details of how we are going to save Our Way of Life from being overrun by the Chinese Hun and the Indian Pun(jabbi). Ross once more brags about his love for illicit drugs, which I could use some of now, as I watch one of my potted Wandering Jew plants precariously tip over in these gale-force winds! Well It didn t actually tip over, but some of the purply leaves kinda fluttered, and that can NOT be good for the plant flesh. I do not know why I fear for our child s safety in this storm, considering she is where her mother considers to be the safest place on Earth, lying alone on the bed! I get all angry at my wife, and J pulls the rip cord on my bleating by bringing up his brother. It seems J s hermano is involved in a complicated series of actions and procedures to attain the hand of an incredibly hot Ukrainian. I saw a picture of the girl he met, and I immediately went to Expedia to buy a ticket to the Ukraine. Shame all flights out of Orlando are canceled due to the massive storm that threatens us all tonight. Pray for us sinners, dear listeners, now in our hour of need Mickey gives me some good Life Coaching, and then some Bonus Life Coaching for the listener. It s a damned advicecream sandwich, people! We hammed it up to the following great bands: Turbo Negro - Stroke the Shaft Old 97s - Victoria Stay dry, Orlando.
