Dianne Glass Wilson, Graduated from Queens College with a degree in political science and Touro College with a masters degree in Education and Special Education. The District leaders are a liaison between major political parties, community residents and block associations. Ms. Glass has personally spoken to Senator Shirley Huntley, and Councilman Leroy Comrie who are in support of her endeavor. When asked why she was running for District Leader Dianne Glass answered: "My primary reason for running is the fact that our youth are dying in the streets, gun violence is permeating our youth and the prison system is replacing the educational system. I don't know what else to say. Running as district leader will give me a voice; for our youth and enable me to pass the torch." Las Animas housing development
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) July 21, 2008
North Gilroy residents who were less than thrilled with the prospect of 72 homes being built in their backyard may have to deal with 99. The old Las Animas Elementary School site at 8450 Wren Ave. is owned by the Gilroy Unified School District and zoned for a public facility. Looking to sell the land at its maximum value, the district is acting as developer, jumping through the necessary hoops to rezone the land as a medium density residential development. The district's applications for a zone change, tentative map and architectural and site review narrowly passed the planning commission with a four to three vote, with 80 conditions. The proposal was scheduled to go before the city council Monday night but a school board decision postponed the review. In this video, we show you the land proposed for development and speak with residents concerned about the new housing.

Emotional moment for Bloomingdale Park District family
from popular posts - blip.tv (beta) July 10, 2008
Daniel Alarcon, a 5-year-old boy involved in one of the Bloomingdale Park District s t-ball programs, was selected to throw out the first pitch at the Thursday, July 10, Chicago Cubs game. Throwing out the first pitch at the Cubs game is a once in a life opportunity for Daniel a true-blue Cubs fan. But this opportunity has special meaning for Daniel because every effort is being made to give televised game access to his step-father serving overseas. Daniel s step-father, 26-year-old Private First Class Christopher Raya, has been serving in the Army since April 2007 and has been stationed in Sadir City, Iraq since October 2007. This opportunity was made possible by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association who has been hosting group outings with the Chicago Cubs since the mid-1980s. Daniel Alarcon was chosen randomly by the Bloomingdale Park District for this honor. Not only does a representative of the association get to throw out the first pitch at the game, but several t-ball teams from area park districts are given the chance to play t-ball in the Wrigley Field outfield before the start of the game. The Illinois Park and Recreation Association began this outing as a means to give young kids the experience of playing on a major league ball field, as well as raise awareness of parks and recreation in Illinois. There are 7 park districts participating in the t-ball games in the outfield: the Bloomingdale Park District, Dolton Park District, Elk Grove Park District, Winfield Park District, Woodstock Park District, Paxton Park District and the Rantoul Park District. In addition to the t-ball groups playing on the field, there will be over 1,500 park district campers in attendance at the game in support of parks and recreation and the Cubs. It will be quite the site to see all those colorful day camp shirts littered throughout Wrigley Field. The Illinois Park and Recreation Association is a non-profit professional membership association who works with over 2,700 park and recreation professionals to provide them with education, resources, networking and certification opportunities to advance their careers and in turn help them advance the communities they serve.
