Jeff shares his views on leadership development in associations, with a particular focus on identifying and developing young leaders. Ben Martin of the Certified Association Executive blog has some excellent views on this topic. Jeff argues that today's boards must embrace their responsibility for recruiting their successors. Jeff discusses the need for a generational renewal strategy in every association, as well as a leadership development strategy linked to the organization's overarching strategic direction. Jeff also presents the ICE (Involvement-Contribution-Engagement) Framework for association participation and leadership development.
