Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has always resented the fact that peers made more money than him with what he deemed to be inferior films. These days, he's obviously overcome this problem by milking reality shows for millions to prop up his more artsy products; but he couldn't always be so sanguine. Here we have a priceless and EXCLUSIVE classic from the archives: a recording of a phone call between Weinstein and Disney exec Joe Roth, taped shortly after Michael Ovitz—a spectacular failure as head of Disney—was paid more than $100 million to leave the company in 1996. Weinstein is galled beyond belief (and perhaps a bit envious). "Let's quit today!" he jokes. Why, he works his ass off and what does he get? A fucking lecture. "Joe, you're a success, so therefore you're a failure in this business," Weinstein complains. Then he insults his fellow moguls: "Between Peter Guber and Mike Ovitz and everybody who fucked up...Everybody got wealthy on failure." Later Mrs. Jonas wakes up) Denis: what are you doing up sweaty ... its 5:30 in the morning.... And where are your brothers .... Hi all... You've probably already heard that Pleasure Island and the Adventurers Club will be closing on 9/27. They made the announcement on Friday night, so after we found out, Bleepin' and I went to visit the crew on Saturday. We'll be heading there at least 1-2 times a week until the end of September, so we'll be sure to document the AC for your memories and ours. Come along and join us for the annual Balderdash Cup competition! It's both depressing and fun at the same time. I hope you enjoy is as much as we did/do/will. I'm still figuring out my new recorder, so it may be a bit wonky at times. :)

As a mother of three daughters, I like to seek out films that have strong female characters. So many of the roles for females in Hollywood either fall into blatant stereotypes or position young girls and women as existing on this planet primarily for the pleasures of the male half of the species, and I don't want my girls growing up believing the images of women they're exposed to through the media. Of course, everything in life doesn't have to have a political agenda -- what fun would that be? So some of these are just films my own daughters very much enjoy, that the girl in your life might like also.
