This spring, one group of college students is embarking on an international adventure to find themselves, framed by a filmmaker at odds with his own past. They re leaving behind the comforts of their lives in the United States to spend five weeks as foreigners studying abroad throughout Italy. While some are seasoned travelers, others have never stepped out of their state lines, let alone the country. There's Leslie, an undeclared sophomore, who has never traveled alone or abroad and has no idea what to do with her life. While Leslie may be starting up her college career, Ansley is winding it down, completing her final two courses here before starting work in the fall. Matt, a first time world traveler and agnostic, is leaving home and his girlfriend behind, while John, a devout Catholic who struggles with a modern romance, is reconciling his place in a world at odds with his religious beliefs. Together, these four young adults, mired between the age of innocent youth and adult responsibility, are discovering a destination that Henry Miller described as '...never a place, but a new way of seeing things.' Con questa puntata, dedicata al mondo Second Life, chiudiamo la trilogia dedicata ai giochi on line, iniziata con Videogiochi e console e continuata con MMORPG. Certo, Second Life probabilmente è più di un gioco on line e qualche anno fa sembrava dovesse aprire porte molto interessanti. Oggi il boom ha rallentato la sua esplosione ma il discorso rimane molto interessante. Second Life è un vero e proprio mondo virtuale nel quale è possibile creare un proprio personaggio, un avatar, al quale dare un corpo, una personalità, una storia, una vita... tutto. Per iniziare è necessario registrarsi sul sito ufficiale e scaricare il programma. Da quel momento in poi la nostra seconda vita ha inizio. Ed allora ci si può costruire una casa, iniziare attività, aprire aziende e naturalmente conoscere altre persone e stringere rapporti di ogni tipo. Esiste anche una moneta, il Linden Dollar, che è possibile cambiare, in qualunque momento, con soldi reali... e qui il discorso si fa interessante. Insomma, l'ho già detto, non si tratta solo di un gioco. Però sarebbe anche sbagliato riporre in Second Life troppe speranze. Come al solito nel video mi limito ad introdurre l'argomento ma... chi di voi ha un avatar in Second Life?
