In 1989 Lu Decheng, a small town bus mechanic, joined in with the student protests in China's Tienanmen Square. Weeks into the demonstration he and two friends launched egg shells full of paint at the portrait of Chairman Mao that presides over Tienanmen. From then on they were imprisoned and harassed by Chinese authorities for their crime. After serving 11 of a 16 year sentence Lu Decheng escaped to Canada. In the struggle between freedom and tyranny, would a foreign power ever have dared or been allowed to stage a flag-raising ceremony by the White House in Washington, DC on official land?
