From : me on blip.tv (beta)
In a luncheon discussion to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Aspen Institute and the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute brought together a fascinating panel to discuss the impact of the growing Hispanic population in America on our politics and our culture. Joining us for the session were: Rudy Beserra, Vice President for Latin Affairs at the Coca-Cola CompanyDina Siegel Vann, Director of Latino and Latin American Institute, American Jewish CommitteeLeslie Sanchez, CNN commentator and founder and CEO of the Impacto Group LLCArturo Vargas, Executive director of NALEO, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed OfficialsManuel Hidalgo, Executive Director of the Latino Economic Development CorporationHispanics are the nation s second largest demographic group numbering 45.5 million people or 15.5% of the total U.S. population. Its growing economic clout is reflected in its purchasing power of $870 billion dollars in 2008 and is projected to reach $1.3 trillion dollars by 2015. The U.S. Hispanic consumer market is as big or bigger than the GDP of Brazil, Canada, or Mexico making it the second largest economy in the Americas. The median age for the Latino population is 27.2, while it is 36.4 for the US population. The number of elected Hispanics has grown 30 percent in the past eight years, from 3,743 in 1996 to 4,853 in 2004. The number of Hispanic voters has doubled (from 5 million to 10 million) in the past 10 years.

From : YouTube :: Videos by russiatoday
Only a year ago, Russia's demographic crisis was in the spotlight. The country was depopulating at a rate of 700,000 a year. It drove the government to declare 2008 the year of the family and to come up with policies to boost the birth rate. And results show they seem to be working. From : Ad Age Video
NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Long ignored by the marketing industry, 50- to 70-year-old women are about to become the richest demographic in U.S. history, according to Marti Barletta in her new book, “Prime Time Women.” In this interview, the CEO of Chicago’s TrendSight Group and author of the 2002 book “Marketing to Women,” says that over the next ten years the boomer generation’s leading female edge will transform the American market in nearly every consumer product category.
