PlusStage Set for Michigan, Florida Delegate FightStage Set for Michigan, Florida Delegate FightThe Associated PressThe DNC rules and bylaws committee meets Saturday to work out a solution to the Michigan and Florida problem. Both states had their delegates stripped because they held their primaries too early. (May 30)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] [Notes:clinton/obama split screen]Democratic divisions will be on public display this weekend. The party's rules and bylaws committee meets Saturday to discuss what to do about Michigan and Florida. The Democratic National Committee stripped both states of their delegates because they held their primaries too early.Hillary Clinton's campaign is pushing for all of the delegates to be seated. She won both contests, but only after all candidates agreed not to campaign in Florida, and Obama had his name taken off the ballot in Michigan. Democratic strategist Jenny Backus says it's likely the committee will settle on a compromise.SOTJenny Backus/Dem Strategist"what we'll probably see happen is a split. The committee will give the state's half their delegates...."The biggest story Saturday could be what's happening outside the meeting.Clinton supporters are mobilizing for a protest that's expected to include several busloads of Clinton backers from Florida. Democrats say there's a danger of showing too much anger this late in the primary season.SOTJenny Backus"there's a lot of anger among Clinton supporters and it's all going to play out in public...."No matter what happens Saturday, Obama is growing increasingly close to clinching the Democratic nomination. The primaries wrap up with votes Sunday in Puerto Rico, and Tuesday in Montana and South Dakota. The party is hoping a solution on Michigan and Florida will keep the contest from dragging on into the summer. ___ ___, The Associated Press.
