The Department of Transportation says the July numbers are worse than they were in May, but up a little since June.Nineteen carriers report their numbers to reach the overall on-time arrival rate...but there's a big difference in the individual numbers American Airlines is at the bottom of the pack - with less than 60 percent of flights getting to their destinations on time. United wasn't much better, also coming in under 60 percent.At the top of the list - Hawaiian Airlines can boast a better than 92 percent on-time arrival rate.For most of the carriers, weather is a big culprit. Almost half the delays in July were weather related.As for other things that can wreck your trip - how about lost luggage? Reports of mishandled bags are down to just over 5 complaints for every 1,000 passengers from almost 8 per thousand a year ago. AirTran and JetBlue get bragging rights for topping the list with a low 3 complaints per thousand. My "Coffin" for packing up the PS3 and sending it in to Sony to have the GTA IV freezing issue fixed has finally arrived. Timeline of events so far: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - Called Sony about freezing issue. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - Coffin shipped out via Purolator Courier Monday, June 30, 2008 - Coffin arrives at Purolator depot, Purolator allegedly attempts delivery Wednesday, July 2, 2008 - Call from Purolator instructing us to pick up package from depot. Thursday, July 3, 2008 - Called Purolator to re-schedule delivery of package. Informed too late to include with Friday deliveries, will be sent Monday Monday, July 7, 2008 - Monday delivery never occurs Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - Call to Purolator. Truck was in area with our package Monday, delivery not attempted. Rescheduled for Wednesday. Also told a supervisor will call about situation. Call never received. Wednesday, July 9, 2008 - Coffin FINALLY arrives. Moral of the story: BIG thumbs up to Sony for responding so quickly about the issue and sending the Coffin out right away. But now---as China wraps up a three-day national mourning period --- for the victims of last week's deadly earthquake------there's word that the torch relay will be delayed. Organizers of the Beijing Olympics say the Sichuan leg of the torch relay will be shifted from mid-June to early August because of the massive quake...The delay has been scheduled so that all available resources can be devoted to supporting disaster relief efforts in Sichuan.If the torch was to pass through the region --- local law enforcement would have to devote time and effort to supporting the large scale public event. There's no word if the torch relay would still go through Mianyang, one of the hardest-hit areas.More than 41,000 people are confirmed dead from the May 12 earthquake with millions more homeless.
