Standard Def Video (H.264/AAC/16:9) The College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment (CEOE) is a national leader in making major environmental discoveries, educating tomorrow's environmental scientists, teachers, and leaders, and helping the public understand their role in environmental issues. Integrated programs of study allow CEOE students to work directly with faculty, perform independent research, and gain critical field skills. Such diverse educational experiences help students deepen their understanding of the global environment. This video describes the college's academic programs and highlights some of the research of CEOE faculty. It also introduces the Delaware Sea Grant College Program, a partnership between the federal government, the state, and the University of Delaware.

Audio (MP3) This podcast from the "Corporate Governance and Managing Firm Risk Conference" on October 1 & 2, 2009 begins with an introduction by Weinberg Center director Charles Elson and University of Delaware President Patrick Harker. Then, University of Maryland Professor Dalida Kadyrzhanova presents a paper co-authored with NYU Professor Kose John, entitled "Agency Costs of Idiosyncratic Volatility, Corporate Governance, and Investment." The paper is followed by a discussion led by Professor Robert Bushman of the University of North Carolina.

The conference was held on October 1 and 2, 2009 on the campus of the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Robert Engle of the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. In 2003 Professor Engle was honored with the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his work in methods of analyzing economic time series with time-varying volatility (ARCH). The title of his presentation is, "Global Financial Stability and Long Run Risk."

Under Delaware law, the Caremark decision was a defining moment in the development of the standard for director liability. This podcast focuses on the issue of whether directors of financial companies can be held personally liable for the financial crisis. It features Stephen Bainbridge, UCLA Law Professor, and a discussion of his paper, "Caremark and Enterprise Risk Management." After Professor Bainbridge's remarks, Delaware Vice Chancellor Leo Strine responds to the paper and adds fascinating commentary on this critical governance topic.
