As the Hummingbird Fire north of Day Road flared up Saturday night, gawkers flocked to the hills, jamming up the county roads that connected to the main thoroughfares.In this video, Day Road resident Kathy Panzica tells about how the traffic made it harder for her to access her house and evacuate and how it got in the way of firefighters.

Windswept flames continued to scorch rural northwest Gilroy Sunday morning, threatening homes as a lightning-strike fire roared out of control.The fire had consumed more than 400 acres, caused no injuries and consumed no structures as of midnight Sunday morning.
