Filed under: News, Exclusive, Movies Hitting select theaters this Friday is 'It Might Get Loud,' Davis Guggenheim's latest film since the poignant, Oscar-winning 'An Inconvenient Truth.' The focus here is on three guitar gods of different generations: Jimmy Page, the Edge and Jack White. While a good portion of the film has all three sitting down at what they call "The Summit," the White Stripes frontman provides the film's most interesting, if not entertaining moments. For example, for several scenes, there's a mini Jack White on camera, alongside the real, grownup Jack White. "He just showed up one day and in the back of the car was a nine-year-old dressed like him and he introduced me, said this is Jack," Guggenheim tells Spinner. "That's Jack White for you. He's like 'I want to teach myself how to play guitar.'" When asked whether or not they were related in any capacity, Guggenheim says "as far as I know, it was Jack White as a 9 year old boy. The audience gets it."

Und natürlich bringt IT MIGHT GET LOUD Jimmy Page, The Edge und Jack White auch in einem Studio zusammen. Author: Filmtrailer Tags: The Edge Davis Guggenheim Jack White Jimmy Page Lesley Chilcott Posted: 04 August 2009 Rating: 0.0 Votes: 0

'Inconvenient Truth' Director Helming Secret Obama Doc?

Filed under: Documentary, RumorMonger, Politics, Cinematical Indie From global warming to toasting a presidential candidate? Davis Guggenheim, who won an Academy Award for his documentary An Inconvenient Truth, is reportedly working on a film about Senator Barack Obama that will be shown during the Democratic National Convention in late August, according to The Huffington Post. Guggenheim was seen accompanying Obama during his visit to Butte, Montana, on Friday afternoon. Guggenheim said only that he was traveling with his son and doing some interviews, though a tipster told a reporter the film shoot was on behalf of the Democratic National Committee and the convention. An Obama staff member later told the New York Post that "elements of what [Guggenheim] is shooting may be used," but declined to be more specific. The Huff Post article says that Davis Guggenheim's father, Charles Guggenheim, chronicled John F. Kennedy, though IMDb shows that Charles Guggenheim won an Academy Award for Robert Kennedy: Remembered, a live action short subject that was compiled from footage that Guggenheim had shot over the years. An Inconvenient Truth didn't move me as it did many others, but it would be interesting to see if Guggenheim could make something that would liven up the convention broadcast. No word on whether Senator John McCain has recruited any Academy Award-winning documentary filmmakers, though Variety described him as "a major movie freak" back in January 2007; he picked John Frankenheimer's The Manchurian Candidate as his favorite political film. Experts predict that the US will need more than two million new teachers in the next decade. So, how do we inspire today’s young adults to become tomorrow’s educators? In 1999, director Davis Guggenheim and producer Julia Schachter undertook an ambitious project — to document the experiences of teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District. In examining the trials and rewards that come with educating our children, the filmmakers created two powerful documentaries: the Peabody Award-winning The First Year; and Teach, a short film created to attract talented and passionate people to the teaching profession. Teach is available under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND license and is offered online to the public for free. By using a CC license, Guggenheim and Schachter are allowing people to legally download and share Teach, so that its inspirational message can be easily seen by anyone in the world.
