Kukuli Velarde, references pre-columbian imagery of her native Peru to explore issues of colonisation as well as personal issues such as her own aging. Known and respected as a ceramics artists, based works such as her Isichapuitu series, 74 variations on a 2,000 year-old Huastecan ceramic statue.
