Dalida (née Yolanda Gigliotti le 17 janvier 1933 au Caire, Égypte- nuit du 2 mai au 3 mai 1987 à Paris par suicide) était une chanteuse et une actrice d'origine italienne, plus tard naturalisée française, d'expression française mais aussi italienne et arabe. Elle est l'une des chanteuses françaises les plus connues au monde avec plus de 125 millions de disques. Après avoir remporté en Égypte quelques concours de beauté, dont le titre de « Miss Égypte 1954 »,et tourné dans plusieurs films de série B, Dalida gagne Paris à l’âge de vingt-et-un ans dans l’espoir de faire carrière dans le cinéma. Elle prend rapidement conscience du fait que son maigre bagage ne pèse rien aux yeux des producteurs français, et s’oriente vers la chanson. Au début de sa carrière, Yolanda Gigliotti a pour nom de scène Dalila, mais ce pseudonyme faisant trop penser aux mythiques Samson et Dalila, elle le changera très vite en Dalida (sur les conseils d'Alfred Machard, écrivain).
