CSD Berlin 2007 - Paul van Dyk in rain and shine on Berlinista.tv

CSD Berlin 2007 - Paul van Dyk in rain and shine on Berlinista.tv

from DC Clubbing on June 24, 2007
Duration: 210
When heaven opened it s floodgates on friday i kept thinking about all the poor people who were about to attend CSD the next day. Always caring about others i nearly forgot that i d be amongst those cruising along the Berlin streets - most as a demonstration and party for their rights, me to bring you all the interesting news. When i left home the skies were all dark grey and around 12.30pm when the parade started, the rain started puring down in buckets. As i personally prefer walking in the rain without an umbrella naturally i didn t have one with me which was a pretty bad idea i found out upon opening my camera bag. Hastily i ran into the first best store to buy me some umbrella. Lucky me, it was some Esprit store and they had black ones which you can fold to a very small size which makes it some perfect travelmate which i ll surely have in my bag on similar days from now on. Most of the participants were carrying umbrellas in order not to ruin their wardrobe, makeup and costumes. Like in previous years Tatjana Taft wore the most exquisite costume - this year looking like some games of chess. All different male gay styles were to be seen, guys in leather, guys in uniform, guys in dresses and more. Being no intimate specialist when it comes to the lesbian movement i only spotted two different types of lesbian women - in costumes or in casual dresses. Forgive me my being not that educated in terms of lesbian lifestyle - i promise to learn till next year s CSD! My very own personal highlight was the dj set of Paul van Dyk on the GMF truck. Paul did a great set and had the biggest group of followers behind his float who were dancing wildly, not caring about the weather which turned from rain to shine to rain and back to sunshine at the end of his set. Find out more about this one over at BERLINISTA.tv. In previous years i had taken the subway from Kurf rstendamm to Potsdamer Platz but this time i walked all the way to Brandenburger Tor cause i didn t wanna miss a tune of Paul s fantastic set. Tens of thousands of spectators were standing along the route and had loads of fun. The closer it got to the Strasse des 17. Juni the more people were standing on the sidewalks. Arriving at Brandenburg Gate and looking down the road in the direction of Siegess ule it looked like Loveparade. The road was packed, so there must have been at least 400.000 people out there. At this point the sun was constantly shining and my clothes soon lost it s dampness to be replaced by sweat caused by heavy dance moves. What a fantastic day in the end. Being just the press person i headed home at 7 pm to edit the pictures and the video i took. Check out the pictures in our gallery and the video over at BERLINISTA.tv. See u again next year for CSD Berlin 2008!
