Almost immediately after first searching in the predicted location, Neptune was discovered in 1846. At first, it was believed that some remaining discrepancies in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune could be explained by the presence of yet another planet. However the discovery of Pluto in 1930 did not solve the problem, as Planet X was predicted to be around 7 times the mass of Earth. The problem would not be solved until 1993, when data from the 1989 Voyager 2 flyby of Neptune revealed that its mass had been miscalculated. After revising the mass (0.5% lighter - comparable to the mass of Mars), the orbital discrepancies vanished. Today, no evidence for a Brown Dwarf companion to our Sun exists. Likewise, their has been no measurement of Planet X to date. Future observations may yeild the discovery of a distant planet (as outlined by Lykawka).
