Greenhouse Effect have jumped into Myspace.com's Top 400 BANDS OF ALL TIME and alot of it has to do with the 1992 instrumental Track "Katie's Song (Gurdle)" which originally appears on 1992's BIG TEEN DOLLAR$ CD. This tune would also re-emerge on the 1994 "Red" cd as manufactured by Rainbow Records; FOUNTAIN "WEIRD' - recently changed ofcourse to "Greenhouse Effect "Fountain",...now a classic cd of the early to mid 1990's alternative 'indie rock' boom era....Greenhouse Effect were not from Seattle. This 'always' three piece band hailed from the 'South Bay' area of Redondo beach and Torrance California (South LOs Angeles Suburbs)......"The original Grunge band" started in 1985/ 86 era in the Torrance California bedroom of bassist Rick Carmody as a spin off 'break-away' project from Redondo Beach three piece 'Soul Clinic" which featured knob hill blues rock guitarist Steve 'Stevo' Stepanian and drummer lead vocalist Clark Haggins,....Stepanian and Haggins went one way,...rehearsing at a Knob Hill garage with various South Bay bassists among them Doug Nolan and Anton Chovit. Carmody hooked up with a Torrance guitarist named Phil Keegan and a fantastic syncopation drummer from the Police/ Rush school of percusionists like Stewert Copeland and Neil Peart....the drummer WAs Torrance's Rich Heben...Somehow, in either late 1986 or eaRly 87', Haggins took over the drum thrown from a departing hebben as he also filled the lead vocalist slot and "G.e." was BORN !! The band was called 'Greenhouse Effect' as early as 1986 ,..a name given to them by a drunken Andy Vest at one of the Carmody house wild 'Stoner" partys....In march of 88', G.e. cut their 8 Song first album at Gardena's South Bay Sound - now called the Media Kitchen,...recently reknowned South Bay Sound recording engineer Bill Krodel,..who often worked with G.e. - passed away,....years ago, he began a long recording career at Media Kitchen..."Katie's Song" comes from the 'latter' period of G.e. in 1992 ,..with Phil Keegan (Dr. Phil) and bassist Rick Carmody then 'gone' from the G.e. project ,..as Ge was then basically reduced to a solo project with haggins writing and producing all the material along with Krodel as well as Krodel's keyboards.... Hagins would painstakenly record all instrument parts himself,..ofcourse first laying down a raw drumset track and then adding wrythm guitar, bass and vocals to it carefully as KroDel twiddled the e.q's and Trident Console knobs...The results were often even better magic than the fabulous music that was 'original' G.e. with keegan. Songs like "It ain't easy" and "Brandy" came pouring out of hagins almost effortlessly and so too did one of Google Video COM'S biggest songs - 1992's WHITE BLACK THANG - ALL ENTIRELY PLAYED BY HAGINS,....often in matters of minutes as money was tight,...., Hagins often had to get by with 50 dollars a day ,..as other bands with label deals could spend 'budgets' of up to 2000 Dollars per day,....No other bands came up with songs like WHITE BLACK THANG,...only Hagins"After cleaning swimming pools all day,..its fun to come home and work on g.e. assignments i give myself" says Hagins "this G.e. hobby REALLY brings me TRUE enjoyment - really its the only fun thing i've ever really looked forward to so much in my life - it and sex (Laughs)" says HigginsFantastic South bay bassist Rick Carmody had to 'move on' from the very unsuccessful financially G.e. in 1992 .."I really don't blame Ted for leaving completely" says Haggins "We had nobody at our gigs unless we were part of a festival,..we weren't making any money ,..but i didn't care about money - i did it for the love of the music - and to be different !!Ofcourse Phil Keegan's now legendary 'guitar sound' has helped to make G.e. legendary rock icons today in 2008 as Greenhouse Effect have propelled into the top 300 BANDS OF ALL TIME AT MYSPACE with their awesome angry punk rock anthem "Waiting for your love to fail!" a tight 2 and a half minute song that snarls with technical fast drumming and mean grungey guitar as Haggins barks out some of rock's most pissed off angry lyrics; "You CUNTING WHORE !!!!!!!!!!!" "Waitng' rumbles along more like NOFX or early Suicidal Tendencies more than it sounds like the other 'blues hard rock' that normally was G.e."The truth is getting out" says Hagins "We belong at the top - we 'are' the TOP !! ""I would like to make some money at this" says Hagins "though it is fun getting seen and seeing all the plays and downloads we get at Google video com,....i don't wanna be on a label per-say,..i just wish some millionaire with 'vision' could come along and help me,...i am hurtin' for money - just like alot of people ,..and recently me and my wife lost our home,..we wanted to have a baby,..and be like normal people - but we simply cannot afford it - its too risky,...i am turning 44 years old,...i would love to get out and play music but i need a financial backer with money,...it would have to be a 'conservative' type who listens to Fox News and Talk radio - thats the key,...because unlike Hollywood,..what 'i' do is not liberal - its all about independent thinking and 'being an individual' not a conformist.....i am NOT A FOLLOWER OF OBAMA or Pelosi,.....we on the conservative lower taxes side of the coin,..we 'must' we 'have to' get into rock music,..i already knew this before everybody else long ago,...ideas like Andrew Breitbart are nothing new,....Everybody in the South Bay knows that Sharks' 'been there and seen that' super long LONG AGO - AND NOBODY WOULD LISTEN TO ME - they were all TOO busy gettin' high.....I just say as Dr. Michael Savage says ; "be nice to everybody on the way up 'cause yer gonna see them all again - on the way down !"Today in 2009, Greenhouse Effect has the songs that virtually 'define' the internet,..in the cold fixed world of the computer screen, G.e. is entertaining to 'look at' and their multitudes of good songs don't hurt matters one bit....."Its not like MTV" says Higgins "the viewers 'can't' just turn g.e. off - they stay and watch and listen,..they are finding out the truth slowly !",...but its gonna take time "Hagins says that 'porn' sights are his biggest competition on the internet; "I hate porn" says higgins "it gets in my way....""We have all the proof" says Haggins "Just look at us - the proof is painfully obvious,..we were innovators" "I threw all the shows,....EVERYBODY back in the South Bay knows the whole deal - and they've long known it all TOO ! -; THEY KNOW THE REAL DEAL !"
