Despite being detained by Canadian border services delaying her book launch by over an hour Amy Goodman delivered an impassioned lecture to a standing room only audience. Goodman's 90-minute lecture touched on topics including the U.S. health care debate, the recent death of her mother, her arrest at the Republican National Convention, the importance of independent media, the upcoming summit in Copenhagen and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.read more

Radio Victoria is a local FM community radio station that transmits from the town of Victoria in the northern hills of El Salvador. The station is run primarily by youth who live in the nearby communities. Radio Victoria was started in 1993 to provide residents in this poor, rural area with their own means of communication. Many of the communities in the area are isolated and have no access to telephone services, mail or newspaper delivery.read more
