We rented a truck and charged it with a bunch of friends and Vampire Weekend was the new album on repeat for the better part of the trip. Absolutely amazing. They remind me of Paul Simon meets a Wes Anderson movie. Most excellent. So simple, yet the sound is so colorful and vibrant. Their songs have been stuck in my head since Super Bowl weekend. Went to the Groundation show here last Saturday and was randomly singing "Blaaakes, got a new face! (Blaaake's got a new face...)" and my friend she flips out that I'm singing that song. She tells me she has been playing that album over and over and has tried to see them 3 times in LA and they've been sold out every time. I knew that they are playing at the Casbah March 19th and think maybe I should get on top of it. The tickets were originally only like $15... The lowest I could find YESTERDAY was 5 @ $35. I was about to just buy 'em but my friend says we should just find some on Craigslist closer to the date. TODAY... All the tickets are going for $80-120. FUCKERY! Damnable supply and demand and all you people out there who think music is a business... It's not a business, IT'S AN INALIENABLE RIGHT!!! Hopefully I can figure out how to get to that show... This is the one with the movie pitch and other cool interviews...

This is one of my best podcasts ever. I had a BBQ party at my house on Sunday and recorded lots of singing, guitar playing, and everyone talked into the mic (must've been the beer). In this podcast, you'll hear Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Hindi, Spanish, French, Korean, Japanese, Mongolian, Shanghainese, Malay (or is it Malaysian), and one other Chinese dialect that I don't know the name of. He lives in Korea, but he was here last weekend visiting ME! We went to Starbucks and spoke for a long time over a lot of coffee. We have two great ideas during this caffeine fueled talkfest. One is to make a podcast of Starbucks conversations and use it to teach people English. The other is to make a reality podcast called the Beijing Dating Challenge (or something similar … the idea is a podcast where one person chooses a new boyfriend/girlfriend by going on dates in Starbucks and gradually eliminating date contestants. The people listening to the podcast could vote and determine who moves on to new rounds).

This is a totally different kind of episode. This whole episode was recorded with a friend of mine in a real radio studio. I want to become the Howard Stern of China. This is the demo tape.

In this episode, I play clips fro around town, including my friend Jonathan interviewing his mom in Mongolian, an early morning search for a store that sold sake, and getting stuck in traffic in a taxi.
