The Week of June 2, 2008

So Susan Sarandon will leave the country if John McCain is elected? For those of you on the fence, why risk splinters when, by pulling a lever, you can rid the country of another leftist Hollywood nut-case? Of course, if McCain is elected, Susan will go back on her word, as did the simpletons who made the same claim back in 04. Too bad. Barack Obama has left the building, his church building that is. Realizing that average Americans will not vote for anyone who associates with racist, anti-American, anti-female pseudo-Christians, Barack is finally trying to put some distance between himself and black liberation theology. Trouble is, Obama has enjoyed close fellowship with Wright and Pfleger (the white Catholic priest who managed to make Wright look mild by comparison) for decades. Just now we are learning that Trinity has received as much as $15 million of Uncle Sam s money, and Obama may have garnered ear-mark money for Pfleger s church as well. Usually, a presidential candidate s views on defense or the economy out-weigh his church affiliations. Not this time. The real Barack Obama is being exposed as was the Wizard of Oz, a point Hillary Clinton is repeatedly making to worried Democratic super-delegates. Speaking of Hillary, I don t think she will quit even if Obama locks up the necessary majority of delegates. Love her or hate her, she is correct about Obama s electability. With his weaknesses laid bare, Hillary will relentlessly push and prod for super-delegate support. Look for a real battle at the Democratic convention. Gas in my neighborhood is selling for $4.15 per gallon of 87 octane. Personally, I m tickled pink. Americans are about to find out there are real-world consequences of letting radical environmentalists set the nation s energy policy. So, I m driving as much as I can, and even thinking about letting the cars idle all night in an effort to drive prices as high as possible. A man s got to do what he can. I ve never been a Laker s fan, although West and Baylor were great players and enormously entertaining to watch. However, after seeing the Celtics limp to a victory over the Detroit Pistons, I m picking the Lakers in 6 games. Maybe 5. Kobe, Gasol and company have too much of everything for Boston. The Dodgers are in big trouble. Starting and relief pitching is inconsistent, while nearly a week goes by between offensive outbursts. Andruw Jones can t hurt them from the DL, but he can t help from anywhere. The club is exactly where it was last year: thin pitching and weak bats. Don t look for them to play in October. Have a great week! ShareThis

The Week of May 26, 2008
from Just Average American May 24, 2008
Maxine Waters has done everyone a favor by revealing her true intentions, and her own shortcomings. A befuddled and incompetent Representative, Waters regularly enjoys nearly 100% voter support. We ll incorporate her misadventures with those of other usually closet socialists, including Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and of course Barack Obama. America may be at a genuine crossroad as the 2008 election approaches. If health care is nationalized and Iraq abandoned, there will be no going back in terms of socialism, and fighting terrorism will be much more difficult and costly. Whether or not we write another post on the Mormon Mess in Texas, it sure looks like history is repeating itself. In 1953, authorities in Utah and Arizona cracked down on FLDS families. In the end, the Fundamentalist Mormon communities were reunited, but government authorities were chastened. Arizona s governor lost his reelection bid, and the FLDS was left pretty much alone for nearly 50 years. So far, events in Texas are on track to repeat the 1953 fiasco. We ll do one post on the gathering good economic news. My prediction is that May will produce job gains and another month of positive economic growth. All the naysayers who cried recession for the last year+ should be rounded up and well made to eat humble pie, at least. Industry experts predict oil prices will keep rising for the foreseeable future. God forbid a major disruption in production or refining anywhere on earth. America has become vulnerable and dependent because of the machinations of radical environmentalists. The chickens are just now about to come home to roost. Andruw Jones lost 2 points off his batting average last week, a good week for him. The good news is, he may need knee surgery, the best news manager Joe Torre has gotten since he came to LA. Higher ups in the Dodger organization must know Jones is a complete bust. They should give him his money and his release, or trade him to the San Diego Padres, a match made in last place. Happy Memorial Day. God bless our armed forces personnel. This and more on tap for the week of May 26th. ShareThis

The Week of May 19, 2008
from Just Average American May 19, 2008
The grave is dug, the casket ready, and the eulogies have been written, but the body is missing! Everyone knows Hillary is beaten, except Hillary. Discerning her motive for soldiering on isn t really that tough. She probably figures this is her last chance. An Obama victory in the general election will end her presidential aspirations. Hillary will fight to the last bullet, making for an interesting summer and fall. It s whinning time in America. With gas and food prices up, the economy sluggish and lay-offs mounting, bleeding heart journalists are finding hard-luck case after down-and-out story, tugging at our collective conscience. No sympathy here. With an unemployment rate of 5.0%, work is available. Find it. Live within your means. Take care of yourself. Hurricane season is less than two weeks hence, and forecasters are guaranteeing their own success. Along with the steady stream of stories about dramatic increases in the number of violent storms due to global warming All Gore assured the world that the Myanmar disaster was part of his big picture weather prognosticators are hedging their bets, not to mention their credibility, by issuing new reports that GW might actually decrease the number and severity of hurricanes. Why don t they just admit they are as glueless about severe weather as Obama is about foreign policy. This just in! Senator Obama has warned the Republican Party to back off from criticisms of his wife. With knees shaking across the nation, stuttering Republicans are replying, When she talks, we reply. Good grief, Michelle has inserted herself into the fray. If she, or her husband, can t stand the heat, perhaps she should go back to the kitchen Andruw Jones continues to fleece the Dodgers. On Sunday, Jones went 0 for 4 with 3 ks, dropping his average to .167. In 132 at-bats, Jones has struck out 44 times, collecting but 2 home runs and 7 RBIs. Yet, manager Joe Torre used Jones as a designated hitter in inter-league play against the Angels. If Jones is the Dodgers best option for DH, they might as well mail in the remainder of the season. Can Joe Torre be activated? Best wishes for a great week! ShareThis

Michelle Obama s negativity and pettiness coupled with Hillary s stubborn refusal to throw in the towel may by John McCain s ticket to the White House. A Obama/Clinton ticket would unite the Democratic Party, assuring victory. Fortunately for Republicans, Michelle Obama has already nixed that possibility. Burma s ruling military thugs have revealed their base natures, refusing much of the aid offered by a world willing to help in the wake of a killer cyclone. While many of their countrymen are starving, Burmese leaders are selling valuable rice to neighboring countries. Almost three years after Katrina flooded New Orleans, some residents are still living in FEMA trailers. The government will begin closing FEMA trailer parks next month, and the hapless citizens will be forced to fend for themselves. Coming soon: overwrought, pitiable wards of the state on CNN. Mexican drug lords, feeling the pinch from stepped up law enforcement activity, are striking back. Hundreds of Mexican officials have been killed, including the head of the national police force. One more reason to close the southern border. Andruw Jones got two hits last week! He s batting an anemic .170 and still has only 1 home run and 4 RBIs. OK, the Dodgers won t let me play, but can t I get a shot at General Manager? This and more coming at you in this second full week in May. Share This

The Week of May 5, 2008
from Just Average American May 05, 2008
I was comforted to learn I m not alone in my opinion that helping an opposing team beat your team is, how can we say it WRONG! Nice guys finish last will start the week with a bang. Another boom coming soon may be the sound of Iranian assets being destroyed. Again today, Iranian President Ahmadinejad restated Iran s determination to proceed with uranium enrichment. Coupled with Iran s continued assistance to our enemies in Iraq, such obstinacy in the face of U.N. sanctions might explain the presence of the super-carrier Abraham Lincoln in the Persian Gulf. Sound familiar? Five years late, we are beginning to vigorously pursue and destroy the Mahdi army, al Sadr s not-so rag-tag army. Better late than never, and better now than later. The eight-square mile slum that is home to the militia is a military strategist s nightmare. The streets are too narrow for tanks to negotiate, and house-to-house combat too costly for war-weary Americans. So, we are relying on massive air-strikes to wipe out enemy command and control networks, a successful tactic that is also killing non-combatant civilians. California s budget deficit is worse than we were told, now projected at some $20 billion over the next 18 months. Politicians in Sacramento are calling for increased taxes; maybe the Nevada desert doesn t look so bad after all. Everyone knows that over-spending is the problem, but apparently everyone doesn t bother to vote. Californians seem to have a limitless capacity to endure inept political leadership. We ll also keep a sharp eye on economic developments. Now that a few good signs are appearing the unemployment rate dropped to 5% and far fewer jobs were lost last month than was anticipated we ll see if the doom and gloom prognosticators change their tune. That and more will inform this week s posts. Please read and comment while you enjoy living in the greatest nation on God s green earth. Share This

The Week of April 28, 2008
from Just Average American April 28, 2008
Attention all tree-huggers! Crude oil is approaching $120 per barrel, with some analysts predicting $200 prices soon. Had enough, or are you thirsty for more? Someone recently described the American unwillingness to harvest available energy crude oil, shale oil, nuclear, hydro-electric as national suicide. Even the founder of Greenpeace, Patrick Moore, has come out in favor of nuclear energy! He wants hundreds of nuke plants built during the next century, according to today s Press-Enterprise. Proving he has left the reservation for good, Mr. Moore even asserts there is no proof global warming is caused by humans. We can only hope sanity once again informs our energy policies. Al Sharpton is threatening to shut down New York City in protest of the acquittal of three NYPD cops accused in the shooting death of Sean Bell. Average Americans are beginning to notice the Rev. Sharpton s capricious adherence to the Rule of Law. If you don t win in court, then win in the streets is a formula for anarchy, not justice. Now that people are starving all over the world, ethanol and other bio-fuels are quickly falling out of favor. After billions in subsidies, we are now told ethanol production harms the environment more than collecting and refining Texas Tea. The amount of corn consumed to produce one SUV tank-full of ethanol would feed a person for one year, unless that person is Michael Moore. Anyone out there in favor of less government, anyone? Flash: wrestling with 700 pound grizzly bears can be hazardous to your health. The situation in the Sudan is tailor-made for the United Nations. Even inept UN forces could quickly subdue the rag-tag hooligans terrorizing hundreds of thousands of Sudanese. Billions of dollars are allocated each year for U.N. food relief, but precious little is finding its way to feed starving Africans. Soon or later, we hope, American taxpayers will say no mas to funding failed United Nations missions. We have enough financial black holes right here at home. Andruw Jones went 0 for 4 yesterday with 3 strike outs, yet the Dodgers still managed to win. The Blue Crew might be better than I thought, now one game below .500 with the twin millstones Jones and Juan Pierre still racking up at-bats. Any day now, Joe Torre will notice what baseball fans on Mars can see clearly: these two cannot play successfully at the big league level. The twin rally killers will earn a combined $22,726,910 this season. If they stay in the line-up much longer, Dodger fans should demand refunds. That and more coming this week. Stay tuned! Share This

The Week of April 21, 2008

The Mormon sect practicing polygamy is busted; North Korea cannot feed its own population; McCain is looking better and better to many Democrats; crude oil, gasoline, and diesel fuel set record high prices; the culture of entitlement has spread to illegal immigrants; and there is a new religion in town. Man what a week! Robert Mugabe must be listening to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Last week he blamed his country s pathetic condition on white people. It s an international phenomenon! The numbers are out, putting the lie to those who claim the rich do not pay their fair share in taxes. The bottom 60% of wage earners in America pay less than 1% of total income tax. When the government grants a tax break, of course the benefit goes to the rich. They pay the lion s share of America s tax burden! We ll give you all the numbers this week. Andruw Jones has raised his batting average to .147. Quick, someone call the Dodger GM; I m available! All this and more coming this week of April 21, 2008 at www.justaverageamerican.com. Share This

The Week of April 14, 2008

It s nice to know big time politicos can mess up like rookies. First, Bill Clinton retells his wife s Bosnia lies by adding some of his own. I guess legendary liars do not like to be upstaged. Then, Barack Obama, commenting on small-town Pennsylvanians lack of jobs, uttered this revealing gem, It s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations. Hillary, who no doubt holds the exact same opinion, was critical of Obama s elitism. I don t think it helps to divide our country into one America that is enlightened and one that is not, harrumphed Mrs. Clinton. In private, Hillary advised Obama to stick to the more traditional Marxist divisions of proletariat and bourgeois. The airline debacle is continuing unabated. Question: What has changed during the last couple weeks? Answer: The FAA was found asleep in the cockpit. The FAA s cozy relationship with airlines is now history, and as usual the flying public is paying the biggest price as the government finally does its job. This story goes to the heart of a major problem with government oversight; who oversees the overseers? Whack job nut-cases with nothing better to do are trying to disrupt the traditional circumnavigation of the Olympic torch as it makes its way to Beijing. Protesters are livid over Chinese human rights violations. Fine, but why wreck the Olympics, one of the few opportunities available for worldwide peaceful interchange, to bellyache about a decades-old problem? As expected, average Chinese are taking great umbrage over the roughing up of a crippled Chinese torchbearer in Paris. I mean really, can t the French stick to picking on people with two legs? The do-more-harm-than-good crowd should leave the Olympic games alone. How about them Dodgers? Besides replacing Grady Little with Joe Torre, the Big Blue Crew did little to improve their team over the winter. Ethier, Kemp, Martin and the other young Dodgers are good but not great, and the older guys like Jeff Kent are, well, older. Paying Andruw Jones $36 million for two years of non-production has to rank among the world s worst investments. With the season s first ten games in the books, Jones is batting .114 with 4 hits, 0 home runs, 0 runs scored, and 1 RBI. No offense, but a blind paraplegic couldn t do much worse. Posts on these issues and more await you this coming week. Happy reading! Share This

The Week of April 7, 2008
from Just Average American April 05, 2008
Hi friends! Lots going on in America, and this week we ll touch on some of the following important issues: America is on pace to encounter a financial meltdown within two decades. If we have the will, sound fiscal policy is achievable, but major monetary corrections are needed now. We ll outline the obvious places to begin. A drunk driver with five prior convictions killed a 5-year-old in Lake Elsinore, CA. The driver was sentenced to 21 years to life, which will not bring back the little girl. How long will we put up with drunk drivers killing thousands of people each year? The most recent jobs report was terrible, and we all know of the housing market woes and high energy prices. But, other economic news is not that bad. Are we in a recession, headed toward one, or only experiencing a mild slowdown? We ll try to present all sides of the economic outlook. The Clintons released their tax returns and shazam, have they cashed in. $109 million in earnings since leaving Monica the White House makes renting the Lincoln Bedroom look like child s play. Way to go Bill and Hill! Despite repeated efforts to get her to throw in the Botox, Hillary is bound and determined to take this campaign fight all the way to the convention floor. What could be more fun, or more beneficial to Republicans? We ll ruminate at least once on the campaign. Here s to a great week! Share This
