Last week, the Associated Press reported that Kevin Martin, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission said he would recommend that the other four commissioners rule that cable giant Comcast had violated the agency s principles regarding open access to the Internet. While the ruling is not final, the statement marks a major victory for Free Press, a non-profit advocacy group that filed the original complaint against Comcast, the nation s largest cable company. On Monday, I interviewed Marvin Ammori, general counsel for the Free Press. We talked about what happened last week, what happens next, and why we should all care. Going forward, Martin needs two more commissioners to sign on to his proposed decision within the next couple of weeks for it to become official. While the FCC is not recommending a fine, Ammori said his group would be satisfied with the ruling that Martin has proposed.

 BlackArrow Seeks Bullseye with Advertising into Video on Demand

As time-shifting viewing habits of cable TV by consumers increases, there is a big challenge to the cable operators and programmers how to insert relevant advertising in to the programming. BlackArrow, a San Mateo-based company, apparently has a solution. The company has been heavily funded by some key strategic investors including Cisco, Comcast, Intel and top VC's Mayfield and Polaris. Larry Kramer, funder of MarketWatch and now affiliated with Polaris, is the company chairman.Earlier this month in NY at Advertising 2.0, I caught up with Chris Hock, a former senior Adobe executive, who joined Black Arrow last year.  New 'Dark Knight' Trailer, Gotham News Program

Filed under: Action, Fandom, Movie Marketing, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels, Trailers and Clips Those with Comcast OnDemand were treated to two brand new Dark Knight videos, with one coming in the form of an alternate trailer and the other as a Gotham City news program hosted by Mike Engel, as played by Anthony Michael Hall. Both videos have hit YouTube, though keep in mind they were recorded by people with cameras held out at their television sets -- so, yeah, you'll get a little breathing and a chuckle from time to time. Hopefully Warners will make these available to all of us on one of the thousands of Dark Knight viral sites at some point in the near future. Until then you can watch the videos after the jump ... and we've also included a fourth Dark Knight TV spot (which I don't believe we've posted yet). If all this isn't enough to get you jazzed up for Batman's return a month from now, I don't know what will. (And, by the way, I like the release date choice for the new trailer and news program -- the day a certain Marvel property is set to hit the big screen. Wink, nudge.) With the power, and storage our computers have today it makes perfect sense to turn it into a PVR (Personal Video Recorder). This video will walk you through how to do this easily this way you can control the TV you watch and you do not have to pay a monthly subscription to places like Tivo, Comcast, or Directtv.I also explain in my video a little about what a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is for those that are new to this concept.
