In the meantime the preview site can be seen at my WestVegas.com link (above). I am a photographer who has been photographing Las Vegas since 1974. In 1999 I started the EarlyVegas website, but unfortunately had to sell it last July. At one time I was posting the largest, most colorful Old Vegas photos on the Internet. To my regret - my old website has been greatly modified and the historical content has changed and became stagnant. Due to public demand - for me to start posting large, colorized photos - I have decided to create an all new and better website than ever before. I have loads of vintage, old Vegas photos that I've restored and hand-painted with my mouse (for hours on end) in order to bring the past fully back to life. I can honestly say that I am the foremost expert and historian on the 'real history' of Las Vegas and intend to present the full, complete story over the coming months. Please be sure to visit regularly to see this new website's continual growth. This WILL NOT be the corporate version of Las Vegas or the perpetuation of popular myths. Instead, InOldLasVegas.com will show and tell the unseen and unheard tale of one of the most unique destination cities in the entire world. The history of Las Vegas is a story about Design, Architecture, Signage, Advertising and Interior Decoration. It is more a story about Popular American Culture than anything else - since Las Vegas is the Showcase City for evolution in the arts, entertainment and technological fields. You won't find any stories glorifying Bugsy Seigel, the Mafia, Mob or gangsters on this website. Their contribution was nil, over-exaggerated and basically irrelevant to this city's expansion (and I'll tell you why later). Instead - this website will tell the story of the pioneers, entertainment promoters, publicity departments, ad agencies, hotel designers, sign-makers, hospitality workers, photographers, taxi drivers, strippers, burlesque dancers, tango parlor ladies, showgirls and all the thousands of people that actually had the most impact on making Las Vegas what it is today - The Entertainment Capital of the World. I'll show you the days when Las Vegas was just a whistle-stop train station, the 1905 town-lot auction, the arrival of Hoover Dam and its impact, the beginning of Glitter Gulch and the Birth and Growth of the Las Vegas Strip. Believe me. I know the 'true history' of this town and will show and tell you most of all I know and learned over the last 38 years (plus the stories and adventures I heard driving a taxi here from 1999-2006). If you think anyone knows Las Vegas history the way I do - please think again. Casino owners, 90 year old gamblers, life long residents or even history professors and authors see Las Vegas history with a much different perspective. They view the story from the 'top down' instead of from the 'bottom up'...usually with a narrow and slanted view and without an accurate historic observation. I see it from a photographic historian's observational point-of-view and will openly show and tell you what I know.
