The survey placed Senators John McCain and Barack Obama statistically equal in the presidential race. Technically, the poll shows that the Illinois senator has a 5-percent lead over the Arizona senator at 50 to 45 percent, however, with the standard 3-point-5-percent margin of error, the surveyors are saying the two nominees are in a dead heat among registered voters nationally. The percentage points drop to be only 3 apart when the other 3rd party candidates, Independent Ralph Nader and Libertarian Bob Barr, are added to the poll. The poll also found that 25-percent of registered voters think Obama is unpatriotic as compared to 10-percent for McCain. The poll was conducted the final few days of June and had similar findings to the previous month s survey. Senator John McCain s campaign opted to stop advertising on many websites that make offensive statements about the Democratic competitor, including a comparison between Barack Obama and Adolf Hitler. The McCain campaign had already blocked tens of thousands of sites from its online ad network, according to the Republican s spokesperson. It used third-party vendor Google to automatically distribute its advertisements across various political websites by searching for specific related words. The latest ads were immediately pulled after CNN notified the campaign of their website matchups. Many of the sites in question were pro-Hillary Clinton sites and after her step-down from the Democratic running, McCain openly made an effort to reach out to these former Clinton supporters. Senator Barack Obama s campaign also removed advertisements from Amazon.com last year. The webpage featured a controversial book stating that a group of pro-Israel activists hold power over US foreign policy. And Obama may be putting an end to his signature fist bump. He was linked up with the move in May when he and wife Michelle bumped fists in celebration of his Democratic presidential nomination.
