SPOS #177 - A Marketing Thriller With J.C. Hutchins

SPOS #177 - A Marketing Thriller With J.C. Hutchins

from Six Pixels of Separation - Marketing and Communications Insights - By Mitch Joel at Twist Image on November 15, 2009
Duration: 0
Welcome to episode #177 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. This is an important episode. It is not a standard episode of the Podcast, but something very different. This is a conversation with the thriller novelist, J.C. Hutchins. As Marketers, it's important to listen and learn from people like Hutchins. He's an individual who always wanted to be a published author and nothing was going to get in his way. So, after tons of rejection, he took Marketing matters into his own hands, embraced the online channel (specifically Social Media) and started building community, audience and interest in his words. The result has been nothing short of spectacular, and hearing Hutchins share his story will definitely get you thinking differently about what you do everyday to connect consumers to your products, services and brands. Enjoy the conversation... Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast - Episode #177 - Host: Mitch Joel. Running time: 39:30. Why I Only Trust The Selfish

Why I Only Trust The Selfish

from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on November 12, 2009

I think Mother Theresa was selfish. I don t mean that in a bad way, I mean that Mother Theresa knew that, for her, helping other people made life worth living. I trust that kind of selfishness - it s rooted in truth. Most people don t know what Mother Theresa knew. They enter relationships to get something without ever admitting their true motivation. And so there is something false that comes through. An anxiety that they might be found out, either by the other person or by themselves! It s only those rare few that understand the fundamental passion of their own lives and enter every relationship sorting for how to make that passion manifest.I have a blog about Pathbreakers - people who live uncompromising lives and succeed in finding that perfect intersection of doing what they love and making money. I interview them and find out how they do what they do. And the thing that is shared by every one of them is that they know what they want, they commit to it, and they are uncompromising about building their lives around it. They are selfish about attending to it and not letting anything get in the way - not other people s opinions, not what they should do, not their lack of time or the state of the world - nothing.Recently, I ve found a new pathbreaker. He is the darling of the social media world and I can understand why. Chris Brogan is enthralled by what he does. He has found what he is passionate about and he does it all the time, selfishly following his fascination, non-stop. And, like Mother Theresa, because he s doing what he loves, he is able to act selflessly in a way few others can; he s able to actually give back to the people he interacts with. And people respond to that. I respond to that. This video is a tribute to his work and to his and Julien Smith s new book Trust Agents. The video is about why true trust is always founded in the deep integrity of knowing what you want in your life. And without further adieu, here s why I only trust the selfish:

the new dial tone (episode 1)

the new dial tone (episode 1)

from recent posts tagged twitter - blip.tv (beta) on October 22, 2009

Part 1 the new dial toneMarc Ostrick and Michael Sean Wright set out to document a day at Blog World Expo in Las Vegas. Ostrick, Co-Founder of eGuiders teamed up with fellow documentarian Wright, founder of nicefishfilms, to take the pulse of what some are calling the new media revolution . The gathering of bloggers, lifestreamers and seasoned journalists provided an opportunity to dialog with media producers from around the world. Ostrick and Wright attempted to push the limits of the current technology, shooting with Kodak Zi8 and Flip Ultra HD cameras. The short doc is part of the conversation focused on the shifting landscape of media. The new dial tone is a dialog among media producers, technologists and bloggers who are looking to express their ideas into the stream of the real-time web. The filmmakers shadowed Robert Scoble, early technology blogger-evangelist as he interacted with the influencers in social media. Social media is the new dial tone, according to author Chris Brogan.
