Autoblog Podcast #102
from Autoblog July 25, 2008
Filed under: Concept Cars, Podcasts, Coupes, Hybrids/Alternative, Government/Legal, Green, Chevrolet, GM, Honda, Chery It's late, we know, but we're not a host short like last week! Chris, Sam, and Dan kick it about what's in the Autoblog Garage, the 2010 Camaro unveiling and other stuff that the Camaro overshadowed. What could possibly hold a candle to the Camaro officially rolling into that garage bay? Not much, but we touched on Honda's Prius clone fighter, as well as Malcolm Bricklin's legal action against Chery Motors after the breakup, but really, we spent a lot of time kicking the Camaro ball around, as it did happen to be the most excitement you could find without going racing. Hit us up at podcast at autoblog dot com with any questions/comments/suggestions, and thanks for listening! http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=125288?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.* --- We come to our first serious corner on Glendora Mountain Road, and the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Coupe delivers the unexpected. It turns into a tight left-hander with the haste and hunger of an import sport compact. Perhaps most surprising of all, it gives the impression of being happy to do it. Cars are Safe Propaganda Film by Chevrolet (1930s)
from Revver - humor Videos July 16, 2008
Author: QIP1 Added: Wed, 16 Jul 2008 03:54:27 -0800 Duration: 56The Safest Place is an amusing vintage corporate promotional video sponsored by Chevrolet. Chevy maintains that the company's new 1935 models are the safest place any person could be. To illustrate this point, a man at home comically slips on a bar of soap in his bathtub and almost wipes out, and later tries to straighten a crooked picture on his wall and almost falls to his death. The point was, apparently, that in todays well-engineered Chevrolet (now a vintage Chevrolet), with their redesigned bodies and brakes, it was like driving a living room on wheels, only safer than your actual living room where danger lurked around every corner. Included also are lots of old funky driving videos and wild vintage cars. This humorously contradictory piece of propaganda then goes on to defeat its own message by giving safe driving tips, safe driving habits, and warning the audience to have their cars serviced regularly. We are even told that if we could eliminate the human element by ...

1936 Chevy Cinderella Defensive Driving with Miniatures
from Revver - car Videos July 15, 2008
Author: QIP1 Added: Tue, 15 Jul 2008 14:43:42 -0800 Duration: 50This Chevrolet sponsored driving education video advocates keeping an aerial view of the road in mind at all times as the best way to drive defensively. Using the story of Cinderella, Chevrolet replaces the carriage and horses with a dependable and safe Chevy car (now a vintage Chevrolet). The focus of the film, however, is the constant watching of nearby cars in order to remain a safe distance away from them and avoid an accident and promote safe highway driving. At the beginning of the film, fighter planes are shown in tight formations (early aviation footage), and the narrator comments that drivers too must constantly be aware of how close other cars are, just like the pilots are always aware of the position of other planes. To illustrate this point, miniatures of roads, cars, and drivers are manipulated on a tabletop in order to give the audience the aerial view of many common dangerous situations, such as merging and changing lanes, that might lead to a bad car accident. ...

1955 1 of 12 -Engineering USA- Technicolor Superscope
from YouTube :: Tag // second life July 14, 2008
http://romanoarchives.altervista.org American Engineer (1956) Sponsor: Chevrolet Division, General Motors Corporation Producer: Handy (Jam) Organization Tribute to engineers and their role in improving American life through technology. Another lush Jam Handy "American" film sponsored by Chevrolet, this one singing the praises of engineers and their work. Lots of scenes of buildings, constructions, highways, factories, and miscellaneous products of science and technology are shown while the narrator gives a never-ending stream of bombastic praise for technological progress and how wonderful it all is. No downside to this progress is even hinted at for a second, not even for such things as nuclear submarines, bulldozers plowing up the landscape, or endless freeways. As usual for the "American" films, the visuals are striking and lush, the color is eye-popping, the future portrayed is a rosy World of Tomorrow (complete with picturephones), and it's strongly hinted that automaking is a vital part of it all. Part 1 of 12. Editing by ROMANO-ARCHIVES. "SUBSCRIBING to this Channel is a MUST for researchers and RARE HISTORICAL FOOTAGE fans!!!" V. Romano A top quality version of this complete film (without overimpressions) is available. Hi-Res videos from our Collections are available on DVD, CD or directly in your inbox. Clips and movies can also be downloaded from our servers using a PW or uploaded by us to your FTP.
