Several of the students were rescued by air crews after Chehalis was flooded during a storm in December 2007.

The city of Seattle is using tough tactics to sweep homeless encampments out of greenbelt areas. City officials say the camps are hazardous to health and safety. But homeless advocates say the sweeps are inhumane and should stop. Today we'll hear from both sides and ask what you think. Is this how the city should handle these homeless campers?Also today, weeks after the flood, we'll hear how one farmer is coping and we'll discover the dangers of exploding hay.

When we're in denial, we're doing something wrong and on top of that we're lying to ourselves about it. Right? But what about the benefits of denial? Recent psychology and anthropology studies suggest that yes, denial can be destructive, but the ability to look the other way can also be critically important in forming and keeping close relationships. Has denial every helped you? Denial can be a protective defense against horrible news, like an incurable disease. Freud said denial protects our egos from outside assaults. Some psychologists suggest that denial allows us to live with other people's dishonesty and our own. They even say that denial skills can be the foundation for forgiveness. Have you ever found it beneficial to be in denial? Also today, we'll hear an update from a vegetable farmer who lost everything in last week's flood.

A week after major flooding hit parts of Western Washington and Oregon, donated goods are flowing into hard hit areas. In some cases by the semi truck load. But what people are donating is not necessarily what flood victims need. Correspondent Austin Jenkins reports from hard hit Lewis County (Washington).

The state Transportation Department has breached a dike near Chehalis to help drain the water off I-5. But DOT officials say an argument between state and local officials caused a costly delay. KUOW's Liz Jones reports.
