Even though the critical sales period is short, it hasn't affected business for some of Hong Kong's more traditional retailers. A small family business, Yau Kee in Wanchai will sell about 2,000 lanterns in the fortnight running up to this week's festival. The founder's daughter-in-law explained that even though the financial crisis has affected consumer spending in the city, sales have not dropped because Hongkongers will always celebrate Mid-Autumn. In fact, she revealed that business has actually increased because more people treasure links with their traditional cultural.
