Cruise Ship Travel Tip #23 - Tips from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com More about tips - Other than room and board and a very small paycheck tips are the only salary the workers receive and they do work extremely long and hard. Please be sure to have extra cash on hand at the end of the cruise for just this purpose. You can charge your tips to your credit card if you want, in fact many cruise ships automatically charge them to your Ship Credit Card account unless you tell them not to. I recommend giving them cash because it's more convenient for the workers. If you do allow the ship to add the tips to your on board account, you should at least give them a little extra in cash if they've done a good job. Envelopes will be provided in your room on the next to last day of the cruise for you to hand the money to them on the last evening. If you divide your tips out ahead of time it will save you from running for change on the last night of the cruise. Remember the room steward and waiter each receive a minimum of $3.50 per day and the assistant waiter receives $2.50 per day. You can give the maitre de' or "Head Waiter" a total of about 50 cents a day but only if he spends time making sure your meals are perfect. Another time you should tip is if you orde

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #24 - If You Smoke from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com If You Smoke - If you smoke it's most convenient to smoke in your room but be sure the other person or persons are also smokers. If it happens that one of the persons sharing your room is a non-smoker please plan on smoking outside in the designated areas. Be aware that many cruise companies are prohibiting smoking in any of the staterooms. Find out in advance exactly where the designated smoking areas are located. It's also important to know that it's against the rules as well as a safety hazard to throw your cigarette butts overboard. Also there are not many ashtrays so a small personal ashtray that fits in your pocket could come in handy. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Cruise Ship Travel Tip #22 - Hot Tub from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Hot Tubs - Most cruise ships today have hot tubs that are big and roomy and provide a great way to relax. The hot tubs are are often crowded and offer a very social setting to meet fellow passengers. If you find the hot tubs are too crowded you might want to come back to the ship early during a port day. While everyone else is off the ship is the best time to enjoy the hot tubs on board. One thing important to remember is that hot tubs are always loaded with chlorine and will fade your new swimsuit unless you purchase one that's resistant to chlorine. If you don't have one that's resistant to chlorine you should wear your old one in the hot tub and save your new swimsuits for the beach. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching.

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #19 - Wine With Dinner from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Wine With Dinner - Usually while having dinner a wine steward will come around to offer you an opportunity to order a bottle or glass of wine. If that's your "cup of tea" don't order expensive aged wine because the movement of the ship prevents the ship from being a good environment for aged wine. If you have a bottle of your own you can give it in advance to the head waiter and for a small charge they will chill and serve it for you at dinner. Cruise Ship Travel Tip #17 - Take Care Of Loose Ends from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com This Tip is IMPORTANT - People sometimes make mistakes in life that places them on the wrong side of the law. If that has happened to you be sure to tie up all the loose ends before you go on the cruise. The reason is that a security check is done on all passengers when returning back to port. If for any reason there is an outstanding warrant for you the authorities will arrest you before you can leave the ship. I saw this happen to an elderly lady that had some problems with the law many years earlier. They announced her name over the public address system as if there was a message for her. When she went to get the message they took her away in a detective's car that was waiting at the dock. They wouldn't even let her get her luggage! This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching.

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #16 - Last Morning from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com The Last Morning - Try not to be too upset if the service you receive is not as prompt on the last morning as it was for the rest of the cruise. One reason is that the crew have received their tips the evening before. The main reason is that the crew works so hard during the week without breaks they sometimes slow down on the last morning because they know another group of passengers will be boarding that afternoon. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching.

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #15 - The Toilet from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com The Toilet - Whatever you do, never flush the toilet while sitting on it! This may be strange advice unless you have been on a cruise ship before. The suction is so great you can really be injured. Ouch! The powerful suction is the butt of many jokes by the onboard comedians, literally! Thankfully now most ships have the flush button behind the lid so you have to get up to reach it. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching.

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #14 - Soft Drinks from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Soft Drinks - Coffee, tea and water are always free but soft drinks have to be purchased from the bar or waitstaff. If you have children with you and extra room in your luggage you can bring a case of soft drinks. The ice in your room is free. The cruise line, of course, would rather you buy your sodas from them does not have rules against bringing your own from home or bringing them on the ship from the many port-of-calls. Perhaps a better idea is that some of the cruise ships allow you to purchase a soft drink card for about thirty bucks and with that card your child can purchase all they can drink. Something new in cruising are adult cards for unlimited soft drinks or an additional card for a limited number of non-alcoholic mixed drinks. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching.

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #13 - Ship Layout from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
traveelwishtv.com Study The Layout Of The Ship - It's fun to explore the ship unfortunately you don't seem to learn your way around until the last day! If you study ahead of time everybody will think you're smart. There are several decks and often three or more elevator banks located in the fore aft and middle of the ship. Just jumping on the first elevator available will often get you to the correct deck but lost when you get there. Not to mention all the stairs. On a cruise ships stairs of every style shape design are located everywhere and jus knowing that you need to go up or down a floor will often get you more lost than just using the elevator in the first place. Additionally terms like fore, aft, port and starboard are often used in general announcements and directions from the ships staff. Often the cruise director will do a quick explanation of those terms the first day of your cruise. Pay attention! If you do not happen to catch the meanings of those terms you may find yourself lost for the rest of your vacation. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Cruise Ship Travel Tip #12 - Bottled Water from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Bottled Water - When you get to your cabin you may find a liter of bottled water and a few cans of soft drinks. They appear to be complimentary but if you read the fine print you'll see that there's a charge if you open them. Don't touch these unless you want to ring up an expensive charge to pay at the end of your cruise! While on the port of calls it would be cheaper to purchase some water and soft drinks. You can even smuggle on some beer or liquor to cut down on costs if you would like. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #11 - Falling Off The Ship from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com How To Fall Off A Cruise Ship - The short answer is you can't! It's absolutely impossible to fall off a cruise ship BY ACCIDENT. From time to time you hear stories of a person becoming drunk during inclement weather and falling off a cruise ship. More than likely, if this is a true story, they were doing something they shouldn t have been doing or trying to commit suicide. To 100% prevent a person from jumping, they'd have to completely cover the outside of the ship with chicken wire or some other safety netting. The decks of cruise ships even during bad weather are very safe for the average person following ship rules. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Cruise Ship Travel Tip #9 - Going Ashore from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Going Ashore - At most ports the Ship will drop anchor right at the dock. At these ports you can exit and board the ship at your leisure all day long. At the other ports the ship drops anchor in the bay and you have to take a small boat called a "Tender" to shore. Since everyone can't ride on the tender at once, sometimes the ship hands out tender tickets to go ashore. If you are in a big hurry to get ashore be sure to get your tender tickets as early as possible. That will insure a ride on the first tender. If the ship is stopping at a private island it is imperative to get there first if you want your pick of the best spots on the beach. The rest of the day the tender goes back and forth every thirty minutes. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching.

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #7 - Calling Home from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Don't Call Home! Your on vacation in the middle of the ocean. Odds are your cell phone will not work and ship phones can cost $15 dollars a minute or more. Even onboard internet access is quite expensive at around $5 a minute. That s an expensive email! Getting back to the first point, your in the middle of the ocean what happens if you find out something is wrong at home? The boat is not going to turn around because your pet is ill, your sailboat capsized, or a hailstorm dented your new car. Your on vacation and knowing you will have to deal with these issues when you get back will only cause stress that will ruin your cruise. Bobby McFarrin put it best Don t Worry be happy. Cruise Ship Travel Tip #8 - Lounge Chairs from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Lounge Chairs - Most ships have plenty of lounge chairs on the deck while others don t. You may have have to wake up early to grab a chair especially near the pool. Also be aware that many cruises offer a clothing optional sundeck located on a remote are of the deck. This area is often hard to find and signs are posted alerting those who are curious enough to come across it. Like lounge chairs towels can also be in short supply during the busy times. You are welcome to take towels from your room. Often if you are patient enough fresh towels will arrive fresh from the wash. Cruise Ship Travel Tip #6 - Walkie Talkies from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Walkie Talkies - The latest craze when cruising is to bring along a walkie-talkies to keep in touch. On a small ship keeping in touch is not much of a problem but on a large ship it is often difficult to keep tabs on family members and friends. With communication you can let others know where you are at all times. If you bring teenagers you can keep tabs on them or simply use the radio to fetch your husband. Something new that some cruise ships have available are called DECT Phones to communicate with each other. They work just like a cordless phone in your home. Each cordless DECT phone is assigned a phone number so all you have to do is give out that number to the others in your party like your spouse or children and as long as you're on the ship, you'll never be more than a phone call away. They're much better than walkie-talkies and can cost around $25 each per week. Check with your cruise line before you embark to see if these phones are available you ll be happy you did as this will save you a lot of legwork and worry if you are looking for someone. Cruise Ship Travel Tip #5 - Pack A Sweater from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com Pack a sweater or light jacket, even in the Caribbean, I know this sounds crazy parts of the ship may have air conditioner too cold, especially in the large showroom. They do this on purpose to keep everybody awake after eating that big dinner meal. Also, if you plan on star gazing or spending any amount of time on the deck at night be warned that it can be quite windy. The ship picks up speed at night and the wind even in tropical conditions can send chills down your spine. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Cruise Ship Travel Tip #3 - Dinner Reservations from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com When booking a cruise you can your preference for dining room reservations either the first or second seating and amount of people seated at your table. If this preference is not made you will be sharing a table with at least 2 or more passengers. If traveling with others, also have your travel agent cross-reference all of your cabins so you'll be seated at the same table. Every cruise line will state that "no requests are guaranteed" and that your table assignment will be confirmed at embarkation. The worst way to start your cruise vacation is to find out at embarkation that the cruise line wasn't able to honor your dining preference for example, you wanted the first seating and you've been assigned the second seating or vice versa. Also, if you are just traveling as a couple and want a table for two, you won't know whether you have a table for two until you arrive at dinner that first evening. The worst scenario possible is you think you have a table for two and then find out at dinner that you've been put at a table with four other couples. This does happen!

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #4 - Sea Sickness from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.comSeasickness - If you get seasick it can and will ruin your cruise experience. Unless you're 100% sure you don't get seasick be sure to take something just in case. Most ships have stabilizers you can still feel the boat rocking especially at night when the boat picks up speed while most passengers are tucked away in there beds. You have several options. A doctor can give you a prescription for a patch that will last the whole time. You can also take one a day Dramamine or Bonine. If it makes you sleepy just take it at night instead of in the morning. If you don't like taking medicine you can purchase wristbands that prevent seasickness through pressure points on your wrist. Ginger tea has also been known to calm sea sickness. If a cup of hot tea isn t the best thing on a Caribbean cruise try taking a couple of Ginger tablets morning and night. It's not only supposed to prevent seasickness but is also supposed to help your food digest. It's available at your drug store in the vitamin section. I suggest you buy some before you depart on your next cruise who knows you might just ease the sickness for yourself or a fellow passenger.

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #1 - Cruise Credit Card from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com You don't need to carry around money on the ship. Everything you buy from the gift shop, bars, and even photographs are charged to your Ship Credit Card. You can set this up before you board with a credit card number debit card before you board. Your Ship Credit Card is something you will need everywhere you go, guard it carefully. It's also your official ID for getting off and on the ship and it's also serves as room key! I'm sure you've heard a similar phrase before, but quite literally: Don't leave your room without it! A neat suggestion is to purchase a spiral key chain that you wear around your wrist; you can then have the Purser's Desk t punch a hole in your credit card so you can wear it everywhere. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching.

Cruise Ship Travel Tip #2 - Dinner Time from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) on May 21, 2008 0 views
travelwishtv.com If you are interested in having the most amount of time for daytime activities including shore excursions I would suggest taking the second seating for your dinner time. This seating will free up a few hours of your day and you not feel rushed to get ready. You can also take in a show or have a glass of wine prior to dinner if you feel the need to be kept busy. It is by far the most relaxing way to cruise. This has been Lisel Hlista for travelwishtv.com with yet another travel tip. Thanks for watching.

USHER ON DANCING WITH THE STARS VIDEO from Binside TV on May 21, 2008 3 views
Usher appeared on the season finale of 'Dancing With The Stars'. People is reporting that Usher was exhibiting 'diva' behavior behind the scenes and it was only through the magic of editing that his taped performance appeared perfect. Usher’s pre-taped, edited performance for tonight’s Dancing with the Stars finale may look seamless, but what happened behind the scenes at the singer’s May 13 taping left host Tom Bergeron and company scratching their heads–and scrambling to set up for the live show. First, the 29-year-old singer arrived late, throwing the entire production behind schedule. Then, while appearing to lip-synch two songs—”Yeah!” and “Love in This Club”—he fell out of step with his choreography, turning the wrong way once and losing his mic a second time. With each mistake he walked offstage. The performance then went further off-course when the singer took a long break to get a drink. “He was ridiculous,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Such a diva.” Following Usher’s act, the DWTS cast and crew had only 15 minutes to prepare for the live show (rather than the standard 45-minute post-taping buffer.) “The [dancers] were all at their trailers ten minutes before the show was supposed to go live, like, ‘Don’t we have a live show to do?” a source says. “There was a lot of holdup. We almost didn’t [make it].” The judges–who were dressed in their finale show formalwear for the pre-show taping–made a quick costume change, while a team of grips frantically wiped away scuff marks on the dance floor left behind by Usher and his dancers. And just in the nick of time: the live show went off without a hitch. “It’s never gotten that close before–that was scary,” Bergeron told PEOPLE about the taping frenzy. Joked the good-natured host: “I don’t even know that [judges] Len and Bruno put on pants to come back, they changed outfits so fast!” Usher’s rep did not return phone calls, while Dancing’s reps declined to comment. source
