What a night!!! Carl, a co-worker of mine has left our company after 6 years. Carl is brilliant and also is akin to the class clown at work. Life will definitely be different after Carl leaves. One of Carl s distinct marks on everyone is that he has a uniform that he wears to work. His uniform usually consists of some kind of brown tshirt, followed by jeans, brown Doc Martens and most times, a tattered baseball cap. Well to honor that, we had some brown tshirts made up that had a graphic (a derivative of a logo on his personal website) and the words HOT CARL underneath it. We all got out shirts on, wore jeans, brown shoes and some of us had the tattered cap on. It was awesome. After work, we all headed over to the Big Shots Billiards hall on El Toro Road (Look for the big red barn). Lots of people came! We had 4 pool tables reserved for us and there was lots of beer, scotch, tequila and vodka flowing! Everyone was having a great time. I even learned how to play pool. Tim Winger showed me how to play. We were neck and neck until he shot his last ball in and then the eight ball was his. It was cool playing, but I felt like all eyes were on me which made me self conscious. I also had my first scotch tonite. Now, let me preface by saying, that I don t drink brown liquors with the exception of rum. I tried scotch when I was in high school and that was the last time I had the stuff. My dad kept a scotch bottle on the bar that was always filled. I got into trouble when my dad would find bits of burnt matches in his scotch. I would try to light up the alcohol with a match to see the flame and pretend it was Jeannie coming out of the bottle. I know how gay, but I was like 7 and was fascinated by the fire, not so much Jeannie. ANYWAY, I never had scotch again until my senior year and I hated it. Well tonight, Arshy sowed me the proper way to enjoy scotch (Chivas) and that is with a couple of small ice cubes and to sip it, not gulp it down. It was very relaxing. I did feel more relaxed for sure and then I went back to Sierra Nevadas. The rest of the night was spent talking to co-workers. Some old co-workers came by as well. Gloria was in the house and I couldn t have been happier! She got an iPhone too and we were googling over them with Sean and Jesse. Rob Stuckey and his wife were there as well as LJ and Kim. Also tonight I got to meet Frankie, Jennie s fiancé - after two years I finally get to meet him. I only intended to stay until 7pm, but next thing I know, it s 10pm. Yikes! Twinger and I were talking earlier in the week. I got an email from the MERJ OC group. A group of guys getting together as an alternative to the lack of gay things to do in the OC. Well he says we should go and I was feeling a bit under-dressed being in my hot carl outfit. Next thing I knew I was in the car with Tim. Michael Spitz decided to tag along thinking he was going to the Captains like everyone else. Nope..he got ambushed and was heading into hangin out with the company gays and having sushi. We drove to Ra Sushi which is in The District in Tustin. We walked in an I was hesitant to walk out to the patio area where everyone would be. We took position at a table right next to the doors to the patio. I could see everyone in the patio. In fact, when I was in the restroom, Tim was invited to join them in the patio by a guy named Sean. Tim said he was here with others and Sean abruptly walked away. I ordered a Stella and we ordered some sushi. I was starving! While waiting for the sushi, yes I was staring out into the patio, seeing who was out there. A guy on Twitter was there tonite and I was looking for him - OCJake - but I m not sure I saw him. After some great sushi (try the Viva Las Vegas Roll), we were wrapping up the bill and Tim decides to walk out to the patio. I mean, WHAT!?!? I hesitated, pretending to finish up the bill and walked out with them. I got really uncomfortable. Mike notices and says, we should go. I m not sure why I got all tense, I really felt out of my element. Being in the hot carl outfit wasn t my way of saying hi to the guys for the first time. Yes probably all in my head. So we left. Tim dropped Mike off at the office and then he dropped me off at the Billiard hall where my car was. I drove home, tried to watch Stargate Atlantis, but I was drunk as hell and couldn t keep my eyes open. I fell asleep face down in bed. Fun times!
