The Transistors were founded in 2005 and spent the last three years in touring all over Italy. Enrico, Meson, Alberto and Matteo opened many live-shows of such greats as Kaiser Chiefs, the Raveonttes, White Rose Movement, X-wife, Disco Drive, Vincent Vincent and the Villains, One Dimensional Man, The Alps and many more. During all that they even found the time to record two EPs in collaboration with Geoff Turner (New Wet Kojak, Girls against Boys), which were released in July 2005 and September 2007. As influences the four are naming bands as the renowned Joy Division, P.I.L., The Fall, Elvis - what results in their Electromagnetic(New)Wave, as the band call it. 'Campus Faces' is Trundicho's second album and was released in Q3 2008 under a Creative Commons Share Alike Germany License. The link to the download page is www.trundicho.de/campusfaces. There you have the choice between High Quality mp3, AAC or lossless FLAC. The Zip file also includes a booklet. For this project I came up with the idea to set storys of a students life (which in many cases is a noticeable part of lifetime) in a musical context. A time window of four weeks let no space for lyrics and voice. But giving a story telling concept over the complete album may compensate for that. That time was used to make a concept, compose, record, mix, master, do the artwork and online distribution. The aim for that album where 10 ambient, experimental, rock songs. Additionally I was lucky enough to have time for recording sessions with Expanding_Flan, who did a splendid job recording bass for whisper collector. This is the only song which isn't new but this one deserved a better recording. Most of the songs have samples from the campus of the University of Karlsruhe recorded with a stereo field recorder of Rukano. With his help I was able to get brilliant quality samples. Some songs with samples of the refectory or interviewed students saying 'Tuition Fee' fit obviously to the concept - some songs like student dream or printer, which have samples of a dishwasher or a real printer, maybe a little more imagination firering. As usual there is a lot of guitar work in this project. Sometimes I used an ebow. The accordion was proved to rock hard in the progressive rock song conclave. The drums were played with the Boss Dr. Rhythm 880. (I really like the pads!!) A violine played with plectrum had its scene in 'The night before'. In some cases I used digital effects processed in SuperCollider which partly ran in by Rukano and P. Borgeat. For 'Student Jazz' I used the kitchens door which sounds like a free jazz trumpet. "Drop - a 4 note soundtrack" Could have been a soundtrack to an animation movie, instead it's a soundtrack to a film that is only partially revealed inside "Drop". An animation about the making of animation. The album tells a story about a relationship that takes place underwater in 15 scenes. (which can be partly seen inside the prolonged cd cover ). The album's main theme moves up and down a 4 note scale, a limit which is taken in order to capture the main character's obsession and create an underwater feel. In spite of the album's limit and maybe due to it, the album manages to transport the listener through a variety of worlds. From floating guitar sounds to wooden percussion and from aggressive wind instruments to apocalyptic ambient. Koen Park is the work of Ian D Hawgood. Working between his small apartment in Tokyo and his mum's garage in south London, he makes washed out electro-hip-hop-pop-folk-shoegaze music, singing into his laptop mic or OD-2. He plays drum machines, samplers, glockenspiels, broken and warped guitars, various old keyboards, circuit-bent stuff, an atari or two, an omnichord, drums like a kid, field recordings, and runs it all through a bunch of distortion pedals, into his old, slightly broken Fostex cassette four-track and eventually through to his computer. For the second time (two years old !), Dolebrai Webradio released a compilation of netlabel tracks. This is an eclectic set of 16 titles. The main genre is electronic with some rock, jazz and hip-hop stuff included. The last songs are more dancefloor oriented to make it funkier ! It is not a "best of" tracks playlisted last year, but a selection of tracks/artists which marked our past year. We hope you will enjoy it ! Four guys from the capital of Germany crossing the republic. For three voices, melody, shouting and bad-ass guitars are the frame those four create their dreams of. You have to live music for approaching things as Shearer do. Genius and madness coupled with megalomania, which is entitled such as for hardly any other band. The audience will expect a big rock album with 'Eve', but it also gives the necessary breaks for breathing, independent, catchy and diverse. The limited EP 'Adam' improves that work with even more power, a soft core and a heartbreaking end. Here you can feel the bundled intensity of the Shearer live gigs. The whole thing was recorded at Music Lab Studio, produced by none other than Harris Johns. Private Life was completely abolished for about three months, in order to invest any spark of energy and creativity into their opus. The hard work was paid off. With 'Eve' and 'Adam' Shearer have a trend-setting masterpiece, which doesn't need to be afraid of comparisons with greats such as Foo Fighters or Beatsteaks, neither in sound nor musically things. As it's predecessor the new album will be downloadable for an arbitrary value (or even for free!) on the band's webpage and is available in any store. The EP is exclusively available on the homepage of afmusic for free, as payable download in any popular download-stores and further more as limited CD (500 pieces) on the Shearer-Homepage or at their shows. The brothers Johann and Oskar Bernövall from Uppsala (Sweden) wanted something to do back in 2005. Inspired by early punk like New York Dolls and Sex Pistols and early 80s stuff like Joy Division, they put a band together. Years of strange gigs (often with 2 or 3 people in the audience) and musical evolution has led to where we are at now. The first self-titled EP is produced by Kristofer Jönsson from Jeniferever and released autumn 2006. The second EP 'No Spark' was recorded in a strange garage in the summer of 2007 and was released the same fall. The two new songs for the EP-Compilation 'No Spark (Extended)' are demos recorded by the band, as a example of what is and what will be. But no one knows what tomorrow will bring... Following the publication of the album "Impressions" in the year 2006, the Berlin Wave project REBENTISCH released the new album "Intimität" at the end of 2007. Many of the recent releases are almost sold out and that's why a handful of already well-known title have been picked out, just remastered and arranged in a really wonderful new designed cover. For this digital re-released in May 2008 on afmusic, mastermind Sven decided to attach 3 more previously unreleased remixes from his archive. The result is an extremely personal album, which in addition to the melancholy "Single", the catchy tunes "Der Biss" and "Keine Zukunft" and the accusing "Ich spür den Tod", many other facets of REBENTISCH's music are brought closer. Other highlights are "Durch Dich" with a very hypnotic synth melody and an interpretation of "Kindertotenlied" from Friedrich Rückert (1788 -1866). In addition to a kind of radio play called "Kurze Story", there is also a remix of "Die by Echoes", which REBENTISCH made for the friendly project THE DARK UNSPOKEN. Further more, the 3 remixes of JAN_SOLO and THE DARK UNSPOKEN give another perspective on the opus of the Berlin artist. aaahh-records is a new netlabel that just launched its first release: The Wind Whistles and their album "Window Sills" that features 12 wonderful indie-folk tunes. Tom and Liza are the Wind Whistles and they live together in the suburbs of Vancouver, Canada. As an indie folk duo, they both sing and both play acoustic instruments (guitar,bass). Sometimes they play alone and sometimes they bring friends, more times not. They think they sound like a cross of Lemonheads and Violent Femmes while people tell them they sound like a cross of the Decemberists and the Moldy Peaches. Beginning in the spring of 2006, they’ve done the usual artist thing: demo, radio, festivals, tours, friends and lots and lots of shows. In 2007, they have released their first full length “window sills” and try to spread it around as much as they can. That’s why they have decided to re-release their 12-track LP under a creative commons license. Primary Curious was intended as a short-lived cover project. Formed in summer of 1999 in Bielefeld, Olli (vocals), Suzie (drums) and Moci (bass) interpretate songs of their icons The Cure, OMD and The Chameleons. After all the label Genetic Music was concerned in a collaboration. In winter 03/04 the debut album "The Intimate Stranger" was recorded and published in July of 2004. 3 and a half years later the band own some live experiences and the first edition of the debut now is solded out. And so that this timeless piece of music-history not get lost we will release this debut digitally in our normal way - also as a free download - to the disposed fan.
