Double D & the Spy Who Sorta Liked Me

Double D & the Spy Who Sorta Liked Me

from Geek Entertainment TV on February 09, 2009
Duration: 0
If you happen to be a daily TWiT watcher, you may have caught Leo Laporte and Irina doing some improvisational sketch comedy. Leo and Irina are pretty wacky together, their imaginations flowing as freely as dry-erase markers on a whiteboard. All Leo knew was that Irina wanted to tie him to a chair and that she was a Russian spy interrogating him about his Emmy win, his streaking history and his status as the father of all media all three are true facts that can be found on Leo s wikipedia article. Enjoy the insanity! Episode links: Leo Laporte, TWiT Formats: iPod/iPhone (.m4v)

Finding Geeks at the Adult Entertainment Expo

Finding Geeks at the Adult Entertainment Expo

from Geek Entertainment TV on February 02, 2009
Duration: 0
For the first time in GETV history, the crew went to the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, canoodling with porn stars, directors and producers. Braving this new world, Irina scored an interview with uberstar Tera Patrick and her husband Evan Seinfeld. Tera, besides being so gorgeous that she s hard to look at dead on, has a character in the video game Saints Row 2! And turns out Evan has done voices in the Grand Theft Auto franchise as well. Not only do they work in gaming, they also tell us what they like to play, taking us all the way back to PONG. Irina even recognized one male star! Evan Stone is the lead in both Pirates I and Pirates II, the most expensive films in the history of adult movies. Evan is a gamer geek and gives out his handle, so you guys can beat him on the joysticks. Then we find an up-and-coming porn star who s on Twitter and wears fresh kicks, not clear platform shoes! Unfortunately for Irina, Justin Slayer did not come this year. The Last Macworld Expo

The Last Macworld Expo

from Geek Entertainment TV on January 12, 2009
Duration: 0
We know there was some tech news at Macworld, but the only talk we heard was all about Steve Jobs absence from Apple s party of the year and his fans speculation about his health. GETV is as grateful to Steve as any dedicated fanboy, but we still need to do our job = make you smile! We figured you already know about the 17-hour battery and all that, so here s something that will remind you that Steve is pretty zen about this mortal coil and that this universe is a better place with him in it, whether this is the last Macworld or not. Interfacing with Aza Raskin

Interfacing with Aza Raskin

from Geek Entertainment TV on January 05, 2009
Duration: 0
You may not know 24-year-old Aza Raskin s name, but if you are reading this in a Firefox browser on a Mac then you should say a big huge thank you to his family. Aza s late father Jef started the Macintosh project at Apple. YES. And Aza is the user interface designer at Mozilla Labs. Honestly, Irina doesn t often find herself at a loss for jokes, but this guy was kind of hard to make fun of at first try! We ll have to bring him back for sure. Aza is also the founder of Humanized, Inc., Songza, and Bloxes, and President of the Raskin Center for Humane Interfaces. And he likes puns, so leave some in the comments. Santa Takes Over San Francisco

Santa Takes Over San Francisco

from Geek Entertainment TV on December 22, 2008
Duration: 0
Santacon aka Santarchy, a jolly rampage of hundreds maybe thousands of Santas, is an annual tradition that occurs in cities all across the globe. Nowhere is it more diverse and well attended than in San Francisco, where the tradition started some 15 years ago when the Cacophony Society decided that Christmas should have a more noble purpose than buying consuming. With the tradition firmly mature, we take a ride along the Klassic Kringle route where Santa runs into bewildered tourists, reindeer dogs and groups of festive bards. Sit back, enjoy the ride and make plans to join the red menace next year. Fog City Wrestling

Fog City Wrestling

from Geek Entertainment TV on December 15, 2008
Duration: 0
If you ve never seen muscle men in spandex, masks, tattoos and make up running around jumping on top of each other and screaming, you haven t been to a wrestling show! After 30 years of downtime, San Francisco s Fog City Wrestling promises a monthly dose of pro-wresting hijinks mixed with kitchy Mexican Lucha Libre with a splash of comic book antics. Istope comic store owner James Sime acted as commissioner and a part of the live show. GETV stopped by this weekend to witness the insanity, the hairless chests, the manly muscles, the screaming madness, the high-flying tricks, the body slams, the dropkicks, and the flying sweat. Irina enjoyed herself perhaps a bit much as she interviewed the roster of Fog City s wrestlers. If geek means having a deep passion for something, then these guys are wrestling geeks for sure. If you can t make it to Fog City s live wrestling show on Jan 10, watch the livestream on their site. The organizers also post their audio and video podcast on the site, including promos and interviews with wrestlers from the roster. See you on the mat! from Geek Entertainment TV on December 09, 2008

It just about time for the Second Annual Chess Kings Invitational and Scholarship Exhibition Tournament brought to you by none other than the Bay Area s own Hip Hop Chess Federation! That s quite a mouthful, but say it again cuz it s worth it. With help from friends like the Wu Tang Clan, HHCF has given out more than $10,000 in scholarships, and they only started last year. Irina met with HHCF founder Adisa Banjoko at O Connell high school in San Francisco where kids are already practicing their skills on the chess boards, getting ready for the February event. Adisa reminisces about his days in the Bay Area s hip hop scene when he hung out with legends like .wait for it .Tupak Shakur. McVlogger Daniel McVicar Wants You to Make Media

McVlogger Daniel McVicar Wants You to Make Media

from Geek Entertainment TV on October 21, 2006
Duration: 0
When our new boss Rorbert Scoble said he d had dinner with a great vlogger who s also some guy who s on a soap opera, Irina s ears perked up. Turns out he s on a soap opera that Irina and her sister have watched since the beginning. ( Vera, why they show same movies every day from noon to 4 pm on every channel? ) Needless to say, when said vlogger and UBERSTAR Daniel McVicar offered to co-host the Vloggies, Irina nearly fake-fainted. Not only has Daniel played almost-evil but ultra-hot soap stud Clarke Garrison for two decades on CBS The Bold and the Beautiful, he s also hosted at least three Ms. Europe pageants so he knows award shows! What we like best about Daniel McVicar is that he brings his amazing wisdom and experience of old skool tv media into the new without taking himself too seriously and this makes us respect him and want to learn from him! Imagine that is it some kind of zen buddhism thing where being humble gives you the authority that is truly yours? Anyway, Daniel has managed to win the hearts of the vlogosphere with a wink and a nod on The McVlog and even Ze Frank has a bit of the old vlogger crush on the chesty hunk. Daniel is opening his show to the viewers with his newly released Late Night Mash so send him your clips and see what he does with em. Mark Wants You to Watch CuTube

Mark Wants You to Watch CuTube

from Geek Entertainment TV on October 18, 2006
Duration: 0
This isn t the first time I ve grabbed Mark Cuban in the hall of a hotel to interview him, and it won t be the last! And I must say, Cuban is as gracious a webebrity as GETV has ever met. Not only did he shake the hand of every member of the Consumer Electronics Association who wanted to touch a piece of history (yes, goddamit if you sell your start-up for 5 billion in 1991, and then you buy the Dallas Mavericks and then you marry a hottie named Tiffany, you re a piece of American history), he explained his Sharesleuth.com website several times over to several inquiring minds. When we finally wrestled Cuban away from his fans to our adoring camera, we had to bug him about his topic du jour = YouTube s illegal conent and how it s all going down in a burning ball of lawsuits . Cuban s been busy he s got 12 films coming out of his production studio, the first due out Dec. 1 called The Architect featuring Isabella Rosellini. But our favorite part of the interview is where he tells us what he does in front of the television AFTER he checks his email at night. You ll have to watch to see what that is. All Your Famous People Belong To Us

All Your Famous People Belong To Us

from Geek Entertainment TV on October 14, 2006
Duration: 0
What does a 24-year-old physics student have to do with running celebrity-focused ajax-yummy site Kevo? GETV flew all the way to Los Angeles to find out. We met up with late-blooming geekstar Will Jessup (he discovered his Java genius only a few years ago) and asked him to show us his very LA-LA-land labor of love. Basically, Will wants to create the end-all source of information on all famous people in the whole universe. Kevo is like wikipedia for celebrities but with features of digg and none of those pesky wikipedia problems where anyone can edit anything users have to earn karma points and can t edit pages pages that are worth more points than they have earned so far. Get it? I know, even Will admits he may be too brilliant for his own good, but we discourage anyone from dumbing themselves down just to be understood. That s what we re here for. We Got Questions, Ninja Got Answers

We Got Questions, Ninja Got Answers

from Geek Entertainment TV on October 12, 2006
Duration: 0
If GETV could admit to being a groupie of any vlog, it would be Ask A Ninja, since being a groupie of a ninja is an honor. And being killed by one is too. But Irina s not quite ready to be chopped up into little pieces, so instead she fired off question after question at the Ask a Ninja team of Kent Nichols aka Beatbox Giant (he towers at six feet six inches tall) and Doug Sarine, who is very close with the ninja we hear. The ninja is not only a lethal killer, but with hundreds of thousands of viewers, a vlogging force of destruction. Hear about ninja skills of epidermal removal and frozen baskets of loneliness. Yahoo!, that benevolent purple and yellow Internet behemoth, opened her doors to hungry hackers of all stripes for 24 hours last weekend. The result was over 500 pizzas eaten, 100+ dozen Krispy Kremes demolished, untold gallons of Rockstar, RedBull and coffee liquified, one major rockstar played out and over 50 API mashup projects completed. Here s a peak at a few of those projects. Let’s Hack This Beck

Let’s Hack This Beck

from Geek Entertainment TV on October 03, 2006
Duration: 0
Who knew that a megalo-uber-etoile like Beck Hansen would entertain just a few hundred geekerati this past weekend (the likes of dotben and Joyce Parks) at Yahoo Hack Day 2006, but alas, it s true. To the amazed delight of childlike adults dressed in all manner of t-shirt and jean combos, one of the best musicians around (and Scientology s finest gift to mankind so far) put on a full stage show at the annual geekfest, including on-stage-maneuvered puppets, bear costumes and even a custom-filmed mini-movie about hacking, Yahoo! and puppet porn. Hard as GETV tried to climb into the Yahoo! workout room, where Beck met with the Yahoo! fancy-pants, we could not (Eddie wanted to get some beer, mostly.) Finally, as Beck graced the hacking area (aka, Yahoo! cafeteria) we grabbed the band members and asked them as many questions as we could, despite having no brain cells left in the presence of actual and non-Internet rock stars.
