Episode 080 - Thomas Hardy's Ale, J.W. Lees 1999 Vintage Barley Wine - UNCUT

from recent posts tagged david - blip.tv (beta) on July 03, 2009
WARNING: Adult Language!! We start out totally stoked to review two really cool beers - the Thomas Hardy's Ale (an old ale), and the J.W. Lee's 1998 Vintage barley wine! Both are aged and we love aged - if done right, of course ;) However, right in the middle of taping, we're interrupted - twice - by people in the bar! It's never happened before, but it was graduation week in Philadelphia, so bar crawls were happening in force! We left the interruptions in the video because of the total randomness of it - enjoy :) Back to the beers though, they both score big, and are intense beers. After you're done watching the show, definitely go out and try these beers!

Dave McLean - The Science of a Good Beer

Dave McLean - The Science of a Good Beer

from FORA.tv - Video Program of the Week on July 03, 2009
Brewmaster Dave McLean details the science of beer, from the perspective of a craft brewer. This program was recorded in collaboration with Down to a Science, in San Francisco, CA, on June 15, 2009. Most of the time when we order up some beers, we're just happy to put that life-giving elixir into our bellies, especially after a rough work week. But it isn't often that we actually consider how the delicious beer is created. Sure, we know that you need hops, whatever those are, and water, and some other stuff, and then you put it in a pot and ... then ... beer happens? Not quite. - Down to a Science Dave McLean has a degree in brewing science from UC Davis and is the owner and brewmaster at San Francisco's Magnolia Pub and Brewery.
